It doesn't matter if the accounts are "fake"

All that matter is that the accounts have real followers in them so all your tweets are seen by real people.

Your tweets also get indexed at the top of twitter search for all of your keywords you are tweeting.

It's going to take a lot of purchased retweets to really grow. I'd focus on potentially making a few really good tweets, ones that could go viral and having them all retweet the same tweet. This can lead to exponentially higher exposure.
 
Purchased retweets are tough because the kind of accounts selling retweets are typically the kind of accounts that have a less organic and more bot populated followers list.
 
Have you determined as best possible that they are real accounts with real followers?
 
"Alex from Target" - 500k followers in 1 day. Basically - power of teenagers on Twitter . He tweeted "school :)" and was retweeted 3k times. Unbelievable!

It all depends on where you find them. If you're buying from fiverr then yeah, you'll be retweeted to a bunch of bots. To circumvent this, just email big accounts in a similar niche about buying promos.
