Great offline method! Im working it now!

10% is lousy? That's only what one could wish for. If it does reach that high, the next month you'll be lucky to get any conversions.

I am friends with a family that owns nine pizza shops in three large city areas and I help them manage and set up their campaigns. Each shop got between 300 and 700 take-out/delivery orders per week.

We gave Netflix a try in the way you posted but not for long. We didn't do it every month, that would be stupid. Starting with September we did two months on, one off, two on, two off, one on, quit. Pulling up old spreadsheets, the average conversions for the shops looked like this:

September- 4.1%
October- 1.4%
November
December- 3.2%
January- 1.2%
February
March
April- 2%

Also take note that this was last year, there were a lot less people who had Netflix. Now, most people already have it and don't need the free trial so conversions would be low.

Other methods we implemented were three and four times more profitable so we dropped Netflix from the take-out and delivery campaigns. We did, however, find another way to keep it around to make some money from it.

How? Think about in-shop advertising you could do. Small cards next to the cash register, etc.

I wasn't going to share this but it can't hurt me...
What we did was buy some cheap used laptops and put them in the shops on tables. Told the customers that if they signed up for the free trial while they waited for their order they would get two free drinks or a free two-liter soda to bring home with them. They were usually sitting there waiting for their food, bored, so why not do it?

This method is good on paper but in the long run it isn't worth the small amount of money and shouldn't be taking the spot of other things you could advertise.

Did this pose problems with all or at least most of your conversions being from the same IP??? I guess maybe you could pre-approve the method with your affiliate manager?

let us know what happens after you try it for a month.

to me 10 percent is lousy when you have an awesome flyer. I tested different ways to word the flyer and my conversions went from 4 percent to 10 percent by erasing one line. My first month was 10 percent conversions so out of 2,000 people in one month, 200 ppl is impossible? repeat customers will start to clash after maybe a month, but how hard is it to move to the next town? I dont know how your town is set up but there are so many small towns and pizza shops, this could be endless..

of course somebody will come in here and tell you guys that this isnt going to work or generate enough money to be happy about...go head and listen. I think 7k a month from this one thing is almost impossible not to reach

netflix is not the only thing you can use this for. you could find some giftcard email submits or other stuff to promote if you feel netflix is saturated.

Of course okay it with your AM but because the sign ups require credit cards they don't mind.

10% conversion rate from flyers?

I've been doing direct mail for awhile, and even with a free offer, 10% sounds fishy.

Could not have better timing a new Pizza place just opened up I'll give that a shot

Okay, what is you ppls problem questioning the conversion rates? this shit makes money regardless, its guarenteed money, who gives a damn if its not going to be quite 10 percent, YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MY CONVERSION RATES ARE BECAUSE YOU DIDNT PARTICPATE IN MY CAMPAIGN AND YOU DONT LIVE IN MY AREA. I dont understand why ppl get so stuck on things that dont matter, oo 10 percent conversion rates sound fishy, blah blah blah, let it be fishy! I have no benifit in saying 10 percent, the conversion COULD be higher than that, but regardless dont worry about that and go make money sheesh

Woah there girl, no need to explode.

I'm just voicing my opinion.

This is a pretty clever method.

But, have any proof of this 10% conversion?

Okay, what is you ppls problem

My friend I urge you to calm down. Your idea is good. There are distractors on most threads, ignore them. I like your idea and can show you how to expand it.

I like your thinking. Pizza is a good match up but not the only delivery match up around. Who else delivers products or has a steady in/out flow of customers?

Let's think. Staples has small business owners come in and {print|cut|proof} {flyers|business cards|banners} all day. What can we sell to small business owners that Staples does not?

Flower shops deliver also but you can't put a flyer on the flowers ;(

Auto parts shops have people come in and go out all day. Poor mechanics are probably not a good market ;(

Restarants have a steady stream of customers, can we put a small triangle shaped banner display on the table? If people look at something for 30 minutes while they eat they may pick up the advertising message. We can target young, business professionals at Applebee's and Chili's, but I don't like this either.

Let's pursue this together. What else can you come up with? We have to saturate multiple markets to take full advantage of each city...

Let's do the math at what others might consider a realistic conversion rate, 2%:

500 flyers x $0.10 = $50.00 expense
2% conversion of 500 flyers = 10 conversions

10 x $15 payout = $150.00 gross payout

15% x $150 to pizza owners = $22.50

$150.00 - $50.00 - $22.50 = $77.50 net income/week
So...not great, but not bad - especially if you scale it.
I'd ask each pizza joint to throw in a free pie though.

im not a girl im a grown man with a wife and baby, my problem is when ppl come in threads and attack the negatives, a good method is a good method. Now with the last numers you did, thats not how it worked out for me, but IF it wasjust 77.50 a week thats fine when you have 10 shops doing the same thing, this doesnt require any work so there isnt a limit on how many shops you can have doing this. my area avgs 8 shops per town, there is probably 70 shops i can do without having to travel far.

I think it is a really good idea and has a ton of potential. If the pizza shops are willing to do Netflix, then I'm sure they'd be willing to run other offers as well. I'm sure you could run something that has to do with movie tickets as well.

I'll follow up on this thread. I got a buddy in my city whois pizza business just exploded and now he has three locations.

don't listen to the negative responses areeve

hope you post some results soon!

my only question is how do you know which customers goto each shop? different website for each pizza place?

don't want to screw people out of their money. say if one shop got 100 signups and another 1,000 and netflix only shows me how many I got in total.

Very nice method from the OP, I for one welcome it, something that makes you actually think unlike most of the shite posted on this forum these days.

I don't want to seem negative at all BUT, unless OP is incentivising the offer heavily then I think 10% conversion rates would be close to impossible with this offer. The best copywriter on earth would struggle to get 10% conversions on Neflix from flyers.

However, there is obviously a profit to be made from this and from very little work so I don't see why everyone who is struggling to make a few quid doesn't at least give this a go.

On another note, everyone is getting hung up on the pizza delivery companies. Where I come from there are multiple types of restaurants that deliver... Chinese, Indian, Chip shops, Mexican, Thai... These will all work on the same premise as the pizza shop based on the take away food/watch films relationship. This will also mean that you are covering a far broader demographic too instead of hitting the same repeat pizza customers over and over. Would be so simple to scale.

OMG! I love this idea. You'd have to make sure THEY paste the flyers onto the top of their boxes instead of you having to do it. But - like they said - $77.50/week x 5-10 stores and you are in good business.

I think you may be leaving money on the table as this is outlined. Instead of giving a percentage to the pizza place, put coupons on the flyer for them. Mr. Jones buys a pizza, gets a flyer with 2 coupons on it for 1.00 off next time he buys and your ad is on there as well.

People use coupons ALL THE TIME when buying pizza and this method helps the pizza guy get repeat business.
