Sounds to me like one of us has experience at it and the other doesn't. Can't even tell you how many thousands of dollars I've lost on site redesigns that were supposed to be beneficial. Tell you what, go wild and redesign your site and tell us all about how it went a month from now.

Little bit of hijacking, but OP mentioned "About Us" box at every page. Is that, or any similar info on every page, a problem?

Nope not a problem at all. Most blogs have an "about us" page, it doesn't confuse Google at all -- in fact having a unique one is one of the hallmarks of a quality website. Same with privacy policy.
