Basically, three and a bit years ago I bought 5 dre beats headphones on ebay with the intention of selling them online for profit. The seller kept making excuses as to why they hadn't arrived yet. I was dumb enough (I was only 16) to fall for his bullshit and ended up waiting more than the 45 days after purchase before I realized he'd scammed me meaning I couldn't open a paypal case. How I could be that stupid I don't know. Of course, once he realized I had no way to get a refund he stopped responding to my messages and I just had to move on.

I was bored today having just finished writing up some work and for some reason I just remembered about this. I had a little time to kill so decided to see if I could track the guy. I managed to get his email but his ebay account doesn't exist anymore. I then found his facebook account using the email address.

That's were I hit a dead end. I want to find his home address ideally. Finding his ip would help me to do this but I really don't have any knowledge in this area so I don't know what to do now.

The joblot cost 160 pounds which was a lot of money at the time for me and it really upset me. Nowadays the money isn't so important (although its still a nice amount to get), its more about the fact he scammed me.

I want his address so I can threaten him with police action. If he doesn't apologize and give me a refund I'll actually phone the police and tell them. I've heard of cases where they have actually arrested people who have scammed others on ebay.

Any help finding the details I need would be really appreciated.

First contact your local cyber crime office and tell them about your whole story and give them the IP address to trace him. If it is real IP, not VPN or proxies, then he/she will be shut down soon, otherwise it is hard to find the correct scammer.

I am going to come clean, it was me and I spent your money on crack and whores. Sorry, will not do it again.

LOL.

OP if it was that long ago you might want to see if you can even do anything if you do find him. I'm not sure how it works across the pond over there, but after a certain time you can't even file the charges. You might want to just let it go honestly, could just wind up wasting a lot of time.

What are you going to do if you have his address? Attack him? Come on dude, don't go committing a crime over $160. At the very least, you could be charged with stalking.

Lol, I'm not going to attack him. I need the address incase I decide to report him to the police.

Make a new facebook account of a sexy girl and seduce him lol

Haha, I was actually contemplating doing this but does anyone actually add accounts like this. You can usually spot them a mile away.

Sooooo, you thought you were getting legit beats only paying 160 for 5 pairs (32 a piece)?! Just chalk it up as a loss and move on.

I was thinking the same thing and I can't seem to find much info on the subject regarding how much time has passed since the crime. However, I doubt he will realize I can't actually get him arrested so even if I can't it will still be funny because he'll probably shit himself.

I don't plan on spending too much time on this but when your sat at your computer nursing a hangover with little else to do on a lazy sunday afternoon I thought I'd see what my options were.

I know, very dumb decision making by me. Even worse, the pics he used in the listing had the dhgate watermark on them and I still thought I was getting the deal of the year (I didn't know what dhgate was back then).

To be fair, ebay arbitrage back then was extremely profitable. Around the time this scam happened I bought about 100 Philips, Remington and Braun shaver heads for 34 pounds and ended up selling them for about 800 pounds profit within a few months.

Honestly, I would dedicate your time and energy into something else. The karma that this guy has racked up will come back and bite him in the ass, don't worry.

Think about what would happen if you took that time and money that it would take into hunting him down and put it towards something positive like a new site or new IM project? Just my two cents, but don't think it is worth messing with especially if you are doing ok financially right now.

Well, it looks like Karma stepped in before you scammed 5 people selling that garbage. I know you said you did not realize they were fake, but ignorance is not an excuse. Lesson learned for you (and a rather inexpensive one at that!).

An idle mind can fuck you! and you wont realize it...take it as a lesson and move on!

And next time don't be Idle!

What are your proofs? I dont think the police works that way, like if they were an instant-revenge agency. I think the fake fb account is a good idea, at least to make him had a bad time worth 160 usd :p

5 dre beats for 160 pounds?

Reallly?

Really?

Wait for it

REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't need an address to report him to the police. Just file a police report. Someone once stole a piece of jewelry from me and I found it on ebay. I reported the user ID to the police and they took it from there. Ebay has to turn all their information over to law enforcement whenever they ask for it.
