Hey folks,
Just wanted to share a quick experience I had recently hoping it helps other newbies avoid the same mistake.
So I was reading through a thread in the “How to start a direct message” section. Honestly, I didn’t know that you needed 15 quality posts before you could send DMs. I thought that was a useful piece of info, so I replied with something like:
“Wow, I had no idea you needed 15 quality posts before being able to send DMs. That’s something every newbie should know. Appreciate the detailed explanation – it cleared up my confusion!”
I genuinely meant to thank the person and show appreciation. But a little while later, I got hit with a warning for violating Rule 3.5 (Post Count Inflation/Spammed Post). The warning said my comment might be seen as low-value or just a way to increase post count. It’ll expire on July 24th – so yeah, a 14-day warning just for that.
That was a wake-up call for me.
Lesson learned: Even if your intentions are good, your replies need to add real value to the conversation. Just agreeing or thanking someone in a few words might not cut it especially if you’re new and under the radar.
So to anyone else just getting started here:
Take a few extra minutes to make your comments meaningful. Ask a question, share your take, or explain why you found the info helpful. Otherwise, you might end up like me – learning the hard way.
Anyway, just wanted to put this out there. Stay sharp and play it smart.
