Well, I got hit by the last update... Or someone hot me with something... Most of my terms are good, but my three highest terms (Ones that accounted for 50% of my traffic) are gone from the first page, and are now down to second page..

Question for you guys, Would it be better to try and re-do the SEO on these couple pages, or should I make a new page for the same term, slightly different URL and start from scratch.

Thanks in advance.

Top 3 terms, from 1st spot to 9th

20 terms from top 5 to ~90th

rest ~100 terms are steady atm

Sounds like the Penguin Refresh got ya for anchor over-optimization ? Have you checked your %'s of exact anchors ?

This seems to be a kindler - gentler Bird than its Father [ 1.0 ]

You did get off light compared to several others Ive been seeing.

Shall be interesting to see the new algos response to additional links at affected sites.

Hope you post back here after you try some more ...

well, Just took the top posts and added the links to my home page. Some of my most effected terms were pages that were under 1 week old, so it could be a dance, overall my rankings on the site have dropped an average of 5 spots... Not too bad, but considering I have over 150 pages/terms it will be an effort to bring them all back up..

Ah that's not a big deal just keep building links and you will be back on page one in no time!

This is what I'm thinking happened to me, over optimization of anchor text. None of my competitors were affected, main keywords fell to 10-15 position and rest are in hundreds. I just setup GSA to create 200links/day straight to money site with general anchors, let's see what happens :P

It's because of lack of powerful backlinks.

Just build authority links. Do some more SEO.
It will be back on same position or maybe higher this time.

You sir just got alot of links which were devalued in this update. I see alot of websites powered by alot of weak and low value links got hit. Do not seem like you got hit by the penguin for over optimized anchors though, maybe the ones which got thrown to page 9 or 10, but not the term which dumped to 9th. Just gotta build some strong links now mate.

I got hit with unnatural links and went from top 3 to 12. Not sure if I should try and recover this.

I had my main site fall backwards about 5 pages today, I'm hoping it's a dance.

One thing I noticed happens when I build a heap of links and stop, the site begins to slide backwards, this is what I did with my site and now it's losing ground. Also, if I keep building the same links, it slides backwards but when there is some new diversity, it climbs again.

A penalty is what happened to one of my blackhat sites, went from position #1 to completely deindexed.
That's a penalty lol

I would have been pretty happy with only dropping off the first page.

Same thing here. With penguin 1 some of mine sites got fully penalized, 200+ pages.
Now with penguin 2 a site got penalized 2-10 spots of all my important keywords. Doesn't sound like much but still a 50% decrease in visitors.

My take:
Google bounces things around while adjusting page position, especially if there is a lot of competition for that space. Sit back and watch for about three weeks. The Penguin is still swimming. Just watch. Unless you loose more than 30 positions, I would wait and see where it will stabilize.

your not hit man.. if your hit, all of your keywords should be on N/A rankings..

i recommend building post links on the site...

if your current rankings improve, that would mean your keywords are still rankable..
