Does anyone have any insight on how this affects PBNs or guest posts? Or just blackhat methods in general?

Rumor has it, its going after parasites, like outlook India. I hardly see any medium article in serp results.
 
May 5th update focus on Low quality content and Low quality Links includes PBN as well Guest post and Link schemes.

This update may favor sites with sound Technical SEO.

It doesn't necessarily have to be an update like that. I think it's very difficult to algorithmically detect this kind of content, especially on such large sites. They could be monitoring and handing out manual penalties to specific subcategories of these large publications that are connected to sponsored posts or partnerships. Reddit will be the next #1 parasite anyways, there's no way they're touching that site.
 
I think the same that this update will focus on the technical seo part.

always use high Metrics DA and DR PBN only, and also less than 10 spams score,
 
The May 5th update primarily targets user experience and page performance, so it's less likely to directly impact PBNs, guest posts.
 
Linkedin Pulse is still ranking on some good keywords, I have seen today. Don't know what to expect from google :\

In the documentation for the March 5th update they specifically mentioned that the site reputation abuse update would be scheduled for May 5th. It's not on the official update page, probably because it's not an algorithm update, rather a manual penalty update. At work right now so can't pull up the documentation but it's been known since March 5th that it was coming.

Meh....from what I'm seeing G is really upset with websites that are getting good organic search traffic because why getting traffic for free when they can pay for it....I think the majority of G shareholders are jew jitsu practitioners.
