Everyone needs to understand that social networks are social networks. The moment you turn it into a personal network, you've lost your privacy.

Technically, google should be required to get a signed model release to use someone likeness for commercial purposes. Ya know what screw it.

Google controls 1/3 of the internet advertising market online globally. I don't think they really need our pictures in some marketing ploy to keep their server running. Let's not mistake Google's greed for someone running a business who is trying to make ends meet by trying a new marketing angle. Google surely is not broke, but they certainly have a past history of testing the privacy rights of individuals.

As far as giving up my privacy, I do my best to minimize anything I voluntary give to Google. If Google really wants to use my likeness to make a buck, let them use my avatar. If nothing else, it may help them to sell some dentures or cosmetic dentistry. All I ask is that also use my nick of assphuck, and I'm sure Google will make billions more from monetizing me and my beautiful pic.
