Thought this might be of interest:

Google will start using your picture to sell products to friends

Google users will soon find themselves unwittingly advertising products for the company, thanks to a massive change Google is making to its terms of service. First reported by the New York Times, the change categorizes a user's follows, comments, and +1s as "shared endorsements" for a product or service. These shared endorsements can be used to build ads across the platform, pulling in a user's profile name and photograph to help boost the ad's credibility.

Google hasn't specified what these new ads will look like, but the expanded terms of service would allow much more social information to be included in the shared endorsement. The changes will be advertised on Google's homepage and in search results, so the company hopes that users will be aware of the changes before they go into place on November 11th...

basicly if you have photo of you eating at mcdonalds, there is going to be mcdonalds advertisement around it in your page or something similiar.

I just saw their message, stating that they have updated their terms on how they will use my data in ads. Are they going to share the revenue with me?

Google is getting ridiculous.

Google has derailed from a great search engine company to a bunch of loons with no focus on anything.

If you read Reddit comments just a year ago, you'd think Reddit was a Google fan forum. Go there today and read up...everyone is negative about Google....

Times are a changin'.... Unfortunately, Google's immediate substitute is not good for us at all.....

That opt-out shit is ridiculous. It should be opt-in and people should be paid for their likeness being used in a commercial manner. If anyone needs a reason to dump Google Plus, and all of Google's other privacy stealing shit, they just gave you one more reason...

Information is the most valuable thing today. I guess google will gladly accept a monthly donation from everyone to keep all their servers running.
You are paying with your personal information nowadays. Deal with it or delete every bit of social media you have. Don't forget to never allow cookies and to never sign up for anything ever again. While you are at it you can just keep your computer offline or use paid services instead.

Welcome to the new age. The age of information and silicon. Welcome to the future.

I've noticed these changes already! It can be a good thing for some of us. And like what was said before easy to opt out.

Google stealing a march on Facebook, pity no-one uses Google+ (outside the tech sphere anyway), I see plenty of friends with profiles but most either have 1 or no updates, it's a ghost town.

Probably because the user interface is awful.

OT - Expected Google to do something like this, and the way they're pulling it off is predictable. I don't really think it's a privacy issue because it's only using friends (so basically, if your friend comments "I like McDonalds", and you happen to be searching for fast food restaurants, you'll know that you're friend likes McDonalds, and that will most likely influence your decision).

Good thing I don't even use Google Plus. I don't even see a real reason for it.

The problem is, if you use other Google services like YouTube, they MAKE you join Google+, and require a name, instead of a user handle. So you end up becoming free inventory for G+ to do as it will, unless you opt-out. I think I and other people have a right to the privacy of our info, regardless of whether a big company wants to condition us out of our expectation of one. The policy change is intrusive.

i just opted out

f**k this a*holes they don't even spent penny to moderate their webmaster forum

I checked my settings and by default it's turned off. You have to opt-in for it to take effect.

awesome!!!!! This is awesome for ppc user like myself ! This will increasing conversion rate closely by 10%+.

Good for me, I don't use Google+ for my personal use. Seriously though, Google+ sucks so much and now there's another reason not to use Google+. Big G has been desperately forcing us to use it.

Google+ just needs to let it go. It's not gonna happen.
OnTopic: Google is monopol in the game, they can do whatever they want.
