Google "waiting period" after May 14 payday update?

I just ranked a burner this week using an established domain.

I'm not sure if the fact it was "established" means much though. I might give a brand new domain a quick bash next week and see if the results are the same.

I think the main thing to do right now is not panic. Every time Google changes up you get every noob and their dog talking up the change and blaming it on their website tanking.

Like Tony said, it's all about the testing right now, the more results and case studies we all share the more of a handle we can get on what's gonna work in the future.

One of my keywords that was stuck on Page 2 on position #12 last few days/weeks, today just dropped to #292. What do you think, is something wrong or it is just a step before big jump to Page 1?

Bing is a Crazy Search engine its also nowadays copying Google's waiting time algo..and stucked your site to 2nd or 3rd

Here are a few test we are running.

This was a 3 day old site. Terms are low competition (product + review, product + reviews, product). Hit it with straight spam.

Starting a test on one of my bigger news sites. Will sacrifice for the community:) Targeting keywords that are high volume/competition (CI 70+ serpiq.com). Link profile is 100% natural. Purpose of the test is to see if buying a non dropped domain with a decent backlink profile could be a work around.

Stat porn: PR3/DA45

I think a lot of this also has to do with the way links are being built by SEOs as a whole (think GSA), but I want to have more solid data before I start mouthing off.

**Also, please don't come at me with "those are low volume keywords brah, I only target 10K+". All of the diet niche terms are buyer keywords (so they are heavily SEOed). Top 3 easily will make you $200-$1K per day.

Have many other sites being tested as well as a nice sample size of clients. Will keep everyone updated.

What keyword tracker you use?

Hey Guys, like many of you - I'm having the same issues with a new website. I will just give you the details as I know them, my observations, and my strategies. Any and all feedback is welcome, even harsh.
Observations
1) I launched an online store in Wordpress format - woo commerce - formally submitted to G on 7/3.
2) I hit it with a very effective and respected service offered on BHW. In the past, this skyrocketed my rankings 2-3 pages per time. I actually started at the bottom of page two with really nothing but a few social media sight links.
3) Then I disappeared from G. Nowhere to be found.
3) I added a blog post and noticed I reappeared on the bottom of page 2.
4) Then I disappeared - nowhere.
5) I added three more blog posts (all posts were "green" according to popular plugin)
6) I reappeared at the bottom of page 2 again, only to disappear - again!
7) This is a pretty legit ecommerce site. 3,500 traffic with garbage ranking above it. Even a fricken PDF ranks on page one!

Strategies
It is sometimes consuming to weed through the information on here but I noticed that a fellow BHWer was able to overcome this "sandbox" through content and social media. So, I'm going to be updating the blog constantly and adding social media signals. The service I purchased on here is the best available (judging from the 200,000 or so comments on the thread). I've also used this service in the past with great success. PBN and Links - so I know it is not the service. However, I can't even stay ranking for keywords. However, I've noticed that my exact match url still shows up in G, and I haven't gotten any webmaster messages - so I didn't get greased (sandboxed) by G. Like others have said, it seems to be a "waiting period".

Anyway, you guys always have solutions to my problems so I thought I would just share my experience. I feel like we all need to help each other out. I mean at the end of the day, I don't know why G cares if a consumer chooses to purchase a product from us. If anything, that validates the quality of the work we do- in my opinion.

Also, they would rather maintain garbage at the top that no one wants (a way to drive advertising?) than rank quality content. So here I am, found a niche (which is not always easy), put money into developing a quality product people are looking for and no one can find me. Very frustrating.

Make of this post what you will, hopefully it helps - even if it just confirms everything on there. The only solution I have read in this thread is by a previous poster that mentioned they were able to wiggle out of it by adding content and social media. I know social media is controversial but to take it on face value - if people are "talking" about it, it must be relevant and G wants to be relevant.

So please offer any comments, insight or anything else. I would like this thread to keep going cause I think you guys are on the cutting edge of things and at the end of the day- we are just trying to make a few bucks- which seems to be harder and harder in this world.

Best wishes to all the Black Hatters! Keep working hard and stay honest and I think good things will come your way! Unless Matt Cutts decides otherwise :fencing:

I should add...

Keyword #1 - in and out of G
Keyword #2 - Seems to be a lock at the top of page 2
Keyword #3 - solid at the middle of page 5

All keywords are in the site title.

Not sure what this all means. But just more info.

One of my keywords that was stuck on Page 2 on position #12 last few days/weeks, today just dropped to #299. What do you think, is something wrong or it is just a step before big jump to Page 1?

No one answered, so I will ask again.

drop.jpg

As you can see from graph, I faced sudden fall today after stable ranking for longer time. All other keywords are still stable (actually stuck) on Page 2 or 3.
The only thing I have been doing lately is a lot of Web 2.0s, contextual links and social signals to get diversity, both anchor text and backlink profile (because I only had High quality High PR links). So, what do you think what it can be? Some google penalty or simply a step before leaving "waiting period" and reaching page 1?

same thing happened to me these past couple of days, except ALL my keyword graphs look like this...ugh

I'm not sure that ranking tanking is a result of the last update, or it would have happened at the time of the update (or very soon thereafter). I'd be looking at the usual suspects that lead to a site tanking.

If you think this leads to tanking, what is your advicd what should I do?

Should I instantly stop building Web 2.0s and any other links?

In your opinion, how long it have to be out of SERPs to say it is tanked, and not in "waiting period"? (Approximately ofcourse)
I am asking because many people said their process went like this:
N/A -> page 5 -> page 2 -> N/A -> page 1

I was instead making the point that I don't think this update is what caused your site to tank, if indeed that's what's happened...

As you say though - wait it out. Give it at least a few days, perhaps 1wk+ and see what happens. I wouldn't do anything yet.

Just like my very first website.
Made 18 web 2.0 (T1) having quality backlinks (T2) + bought 15 posts PBN = ranking #1 for 5-7 days.

But now it is stucked in page 3-4. I really don't know actually what is the reason because my site is down for about 12+ hours in that time and tada!

Btw before it goes to page 3-4 it was also ranking #8-9 for about a week. My site is 3-4 months old.
I think I should build more web 2.0 containing good T2.

Edit:

It's in page 8 now. Using my countries IP (Philippines).

OK, I am going to post this again, because it got erased the first time for self promotion. This was not my intentions at all. I am 100% in the trenches with everyone else on this forum and I wanted to report my findings so far. I have removed any mention of anything that was remotely close to what may have caused the infraction.

Here are a few test we are running.

That would make a lot of sense considering how popular GSA is, how many marketers have bought it, how many are using it, etc etc.

All I know is I bought GSA about 18 months ago and the software was too good to be true. I was ranking literally everything I went after.

But the longer and longer I've had the software the less and less consistent my results have become.

Don't get me wrong. I still have a ton of properties ranking with GSA (over 60 keywords on page 1). But my latest case studies are making me rather paranoid. And I think it's just a matter of time before GSA goes obsolete like most automated programs before it. First it was scrapebox, then xrumer & senuke threads started disappearing... so it would make perfect sense for GSA to be next in line.

I really hate to say it. But a year from now I think we'll be talking about GSA same way marketers talk about Scrapebox these days.

Comparing SB with GSA is oranges and apples, SB is just a comments spammer and that is it, GSA you can build any type of link you want, high quality, low quality, whatever... so as long Google is going to use backlinks as a ranking method tools like GSA are going nowhere

Scrapebox builds 1 type of shitty link,

GSA builds 14 different types of shitty links,

So how are they really "different" other than the fact that GSA produces 14xs as many shitty links as SB? :)

I am not sure about "shitty links" man, i believe you are also a hardcore GSA SER user. I highly doubt if u mean GSA SER is only capable of building Shitty links.

Well, imo, people talk less about SEnuke XCR simply because GSA SER can do so much more with 100x cheaper, people who master SEnuke XCR still nuke their sites, just that they are less hype than they used to be.
