Hey guys and girls, rookie SEO here. When I type in my brand name 'Hustle Planet' into Google, all that comes up on page 1 is my brand's Facebook page and the Twitter page that I took down.

When I type 'Hustle Planet' into Yahoo, my website pops up as the first result. There are also a lot more relevant web pages and social media pages.

So my questions are:

1. Why is the algorithm so different between the two search engines?

2. How come typing my exact brand name doesn't bring up the website at all on Google? How can I take steps to fix this?

Any advice would be helpful. My website link should be to the right. Thanks!

the technology behind both Yahoo! and Google is very similar, but Yahoo tend to rank inbound links differently than Google.

1. Two different companies. Each of these companies has their own crawler(s) and different algorithms for calculating websites quality/rank.
2. It is most likely because your website is pretty new and/or your brand name is not as UNIQUE as you think (it is a competitive search query/keyword). Try creating more backlinks with brand anchor.

Its very easy to rank on Yahoo as compared to Google. Exact match domains and high amount of exact match anchors still work very well with Yahoo but not Google.

You will be receiving very less traffic on Yahoo anyway.

Ranking on Yahoo and Bing is like ranking on Google back in 2012-2014.

As long as you hit it hard with links you’ll rank, penalties from Yahoo and Bing are hard to catch and will happen looong after Google gets you, if ever.

there are many Yahoo & Google SEO Differences
Bing/Yahoo and Google have both subtle and notable differences in the way they evaluate websites. Here's an outline of each
1) Matching Keywords
Google: Google’s algorithm recognizes synonyms and context around a keyword. This allows a little freedom and creativity with your content
Bing: Exact keywords are best here
2) Double-Meaning Search Queries
Google: If there is a keyword phrase with two meanings, the most popular website tends to rank first
Bing: A double meaning search in Bing provides local results first
3) Domain Age/Page Authority
Google: Domain age does not factor in as much as the quality of backlinks pointing towards a domain. Also, Google does give favoritism towards .edu and .gov, as they tend to have quality links and good content
Bing: Puts importance on domain age when assigning rank, as well as favors .edu and .gov websites
4) Flash Content
Google: Google cannot crawl and understand Flash websites
Bing: Understands and crawls Flash websites very well and sometimes gives credit to websites that use it
As you can see, Bing, Yahoo and Google all play a very important role in SEO and it is important to optimize for all. Just because you are ranking well in one search engine, does not mean you are ranking well in others.
5) Mobile Optimization
A little over a year ago, in November, Google launched the mobile-friendly label on mobile search results. This label is grey wording that is placed underneath the link that tells the user whether the website is going to work correctly on their mobile device or not.

Two questions with one answer:

They have different algorithm.

Each and every one has its own pattern... and are different from each other... including algorithms

Yes all search engine have Different algorithms to find a page or website.

Google is now the king of the SEO JUNGLE, and they behave as such. Google results are sometimes designed to confuse, create confusion for backlink builders. Yahoo and Bing are more predictable.

Try checking using a different computer or mobile phone. I have seen wide fluctuation in ranking data just by switching internet connection.
