I had a massive amount of backlinks deleted right when this happened, total drop from 30,000 to 13,000. Blog comments, high pr. Can you guys go on ahrefs.com and see if the same or similar happened?
Even though you lost a ton of backlinks listed on backlink checker like ahrefs at the same time of the update, the two can not be related. You should know already that google and these link checkers are different company. There can be a few reason why you lost backlinks from ahref or alike, since you mentioned it is a blog comment, it maybe pushed to the next page and ahrefs haven't crawled it yet.
Now, if you are checking your backlinks from G webmaster tools and suddenly a massive drop of backlinks listed for your site, There might something into it.
A straight downhill graph line down, almost instantly? Half my backlinks?
It's the timing and that they got deleted so fast that that match up that has me wondering... because lost backlinks lost juice. I just don't know why it happened almost instantly.
I think it's just a coincidence.
All of You who got slaped. Did you have oryginal, human written content or spinned stuff on your sites ?

I remember something happened in February where there was definitely some sort of an update; but no announcement. I had sites drop all around the board (still first page PHEW!). Same thing seems to have happened here. An update happened, murmering all around and no announcement of panda/penguin. I've definitely seen websites effected. So it could very well be big algorithum changes, but not an update to the Panda monster.
Looking at my webmaster stats, there has not been a big crawl jump in the last few days. Panda usually comes with Google doing a BIG crawl of pages while it reaccesses the internet. Same with penguin. So its probably just a general algorithum change that doesn't get announced.
