Released the August 2026 spam update, which applies globally and to all languages. The rollout may take a few days to complete.

So far this seems to have been favorable for us and we're tracking patterns.

Dare I or Dare I not login to my search console?

I dare not. Imma let August pass away entirely. Celebrate my budday in peace.

Then September will be all about the dread. That is, until the next update.

Everyone on my TG/email is behaving exactly like you LOL

I think a lot of people have just become oblivious to this unless they're majorly impacted.

I will try to evaluate it next week, things have been moving fine so far with no issues. Good luck to everyone!

"So far seems favorable" a few hours into a multi-day rollout is the part I would hold loosely. The dashboard entry went up this morning and says the rollout may take a few days, so most of what anyone sees today is not this update yet. Worth separating it from last week as well: the trackers lit up around the 12th and 13th and Google confirmed nothing, so a site that moved then did not move on this. I would note today's date, judge positions once the dashboard marks it complete, and if something does get hit, start from the spam policies page rather than the usual content guessing. A spam update is a different diagnosis to a core update, it says Google thinks a line was crossed, not that someone out-wrote you.

if you’re seeing gains already that’s a signal your profile is cleaner than comps in your space. worth documenting what you’re tracking now so you have a baseline to compare against once the rollout completes in a few days since the full impact usually isn’t clear until it settles.

Here we go... Google Dance Show begins!

this time I got hit. let's see what happens.

There was a thread earlier asking of there was an update and initial replies which I read there was not in favor of most members here.

Yes, it’s really hard to work on sites these days. With every Google update, it feels like one eye is excited while the other is crying two completely different situations can happen with the same update. At this point, the real challenge is also convincing clients that volatility is part of SEO and that we need to analyze the site properly before making major changes.

It's not about AI content it's about AI Content that adds nothing new... Information Gain Score is the key word you should be researching here

They've finally realized that AI slop is taking over.

I did a search recently for a quick tutorial on how to change settings in an app and saw 4 back to back sites clearly spun up with AI to create articles answering that - all looked exactly the same, same AI slop formatting of subheadings and bullets, poor spacing between the sections, 3 sentences basically expanded into a 500 words.

AI slop pages is the new doorway page and Google is struggling to reel it in.

This tracks with what I've seen too. What's helped on my end isn't avoiding AI entirely, it's making sure every page still has something structurally unique — proper schema, real FAQ content specific to that page, not templated filler. Google seems to reward pages that feel deliberately built even in AI-heavy niches, and punish the ones that read like the same skeleton with words swapped.

Pretty interesting timing with the volatility people were already reporting this week this likely explains some of what was showing up in the trackers over the past few days.

I haven't seen anything change with my site, i still get roughly the same visits. Have reached the level of consistency of 50+ uniques per day. But i did get a day of 500+ (2 weeks ago), that wasn't SEO related though, that was for another reason, related to marketing.

I have about 60 pages in "Crawled - currently not indexed" from earlier this year, but nothing new has been de-indexed since. Months ago I tested running a couple of the de-indexed pages through free content spinners. Most of the original pages were written with AI assistance, some without, but none entirely by AI. The spun versions got indexed despite being AI spun. Doing that with all of the pages would prob be a PITA. So I haven't bothered, yet. At least nothing new has been flagged by the new changes, not even the spun pages.

Now that the rollout is done, I’d look for patterns before touching anything. Which pages dropped, which stayed, and what do the dropped ones have in common?

Thin AI content, spun pages, doorway-style pages, weird anchors, or old domain history mismatch usually leave clues.

Totally agree. Analyzing the data first before making any rash changes is always the way to go.

Can I share links as freely as you do, or is that a privilege reserved for certain members of the forum?
Last time I shared a useful link to a detailed guide, my reply was removed by a forum moderator, and I received a warning for violating the forum rules. But I still don’t understand - are these rules applied selectively?
