An hour ago, Google just updated their search status with the August 2026 Spam Update

Released the August 2026 spam update, which applies globally and to all languages. The rollout may take a few days to complete.

So far this seems to have been favorable for us and we're tracking patterns.

Dare I or Dare I not login to my search console?

I dare not. Imma let August pass away entirely. Celebrate my budday in peace.

Then September will be all about the dread. That is, until the next update.

Everyone on my TG/email is behaving exactly like you LOL

I think a lot of people have just become oblivious to this unless they're majorly impacted.

I will try to evaluate it next week, things have been moving fine so far with no issues. Good luck to everyone!

"So far seems favorable" a few hours into a multi-day rollout is the part I would hold loosely. The dashboard entry went up this morning and says the rollout may take a few days, so most of what anyone sees today is not this update yet. Worth separating it from last week as well: the trackers lit up around the 12th and 13th and Google confirmed nothing, so a site that moved then did not move on this. I would note today's date, judge positions once the dashboard marks it complete, and if something does get hit, start from the spam policies page rather than the usual content guessing. A spam update is a different diagnosis to a core update, it says Google thinks a line was crossed, not that someone out-wrote you.

if you’re seeing gains already that’s a signal your profile is cleaner than comps in your space. worth documenting what you’re tracking now so you have a baseline to compare against once the rollout completes in a few days since the full impact usually isn’t clear until it settles.

Focusing heavily on removing low quality pages and improving the helpfulness of existing core content is the best immediate response to this august spam update and it usually puts a site back on google radar for reconsideration.

Here we go... Google Dance Show begins!

There was a thread earlier asking of there was an update and initial replies which I read there was not in favor of most members here.

Looks like another one to keep an eye on. I’m curious to see how much movement people are seeing once the rollout settles. Anyone already noticing changes in rankings or traffic?
