Google Shoplifting

What do you call it when your online sales plummet because your great organic listings in Google have been pushed beneath the fold by paid ads and Google property listings? Google shoplifting. Maybe not the term I would give it, but the story is spot on.

Last year I spent over $2k online to buy holiday gifts for friends and family. I refuse to spend money with the same bastards that are trying to monetize our online existence by squeezing every last dime out of our pockets. None of my online shopping this year will originate at Google nor will it be spent on one of their corrupt "partner" websites.

Fuck Google and their little internet association lobbying group. The bastards should change their lobby slogan from "the voice of the internet economy" to "the wallet of the internet economy" because they are taking as much as they can with absolutely no resistance from us at all.

Be heard or continue to follow the herd to the slaughterhouse....

is this to force you to buy paid ads? i noticed they did away with their free product feed and now its paid too

looks like Google is trying to squeeze out every dollar out of the internet before it gets sued.. can't really blame them for that. All we can do is try to beat them

Someone on BHW said something to the effect of "Google is a bad business partner because they don't see themselves as a partner; they see themselves as the dictators of how e-commerce should and will be done."

Pretty well sums it up.

Ow man! But not much can be done, especially with Google Affiliate picking up. And the only other large alternate is Amazon. Period!

There's strength in numbers. My individual actions alone will cost Google and Amazon a couple thousand dollars in online transactions. If others do the same, it will have an impact.

Amazon does not produce nor do they ship most of the products on their website. Finding products for sale on Amazon is easy and locating the company selling those products on Amazon is easy too. Find who sells the product and buy on their website instead of Amazon's. In some cases it's cheaper to do this because Amazon charges exorbitant listing fees that the sellers pass on to the customers.

The whole idea is to cut Google and Amazon out of the transaction so they don't have even more money to use against us and the many other small businesses out there.

I used to have a blast shopping online and finding all kinds of cool stuff from small sellers that a person just can't find in stores. Now it stinks - but where to find all the little people? Been looking and looking and can't find any... I like those -reminded me of the mom and pop stores that no longer exist in physical stores.
