I have heard a lot of people mention that having a google webmasters/analytics account is not a good thing to have if you're doing SEO that may be looked as BH.

Well today i received my first message about it. After deleting my webmaster tools account and G analytics i'm searching for another analytic software.

Recommendations?

Message I received:

Dear site owner or webmaster of BLANK
We've detected that some of your site's pages may be using techniques that are outside Google's Webmaster Guidelines.
Specifically, look for possibly artificial or unnatural links pointing to your site that could be intended to manipulate PageRank. Examples of unnatural linking could include buying links to pass PageRank or participating in link schemes.
We encourage you to make changes to your site so that it meets our quality guidelines. Once you've made these changes, please submit your site for reconsideration in Google's search results.
If you find unnatural links to your site that you are unable to control or remove, please provide the details in your reconsideration request.
If you have any questions about how to resolve this issue, please see our Webmaster Help Forum for support.
Sincerely,
Google Search Quality Team

I always recommended not using google analytics.

but recently kind of change my recommendation.

The one advantage that you get by using GA is that they can warn you.
If you had not had GA, you might have been penalized.

Also, google gets a lot of data "outside what the analytics give them" they have special data arrangements with big hosting companies like hostgator.

so even if GA is not directly on your site.... indirectly they monitor you.

If you are doing STRONG Blackhatting.... I suggest stay away from GA and stay away from the well known hosting companies.

Google can see what you are doing even without Analytics / Webmaster.
Having those tools just mean that you get to share a little of the information Google already has, and STILL has, even if you don't use their tools.
Your backlinking scheme is something they would have noticed anyway - the only difference is that you wouldn't have gotten a warning about it, they'd have dumped your site and you wouldn't have known why.

addition:
@virus1: I've never heard of G having a "special data arrangement" with any hosting company, more info?
But they DO have all of the info from everyone using chrome browser.
...and if you are using adsense on your website, it's the same as having analytics on your website anyway.

That said...
PIWIK is a really nice analytics tools, but if you are running it on the same server as your website, you should know that it's resource intensive.

Yeah I'm not doing what i would call strong blackhatting but i work with a lot of different services on BHW to do my link building for me. I don't honestly even use analytics enough to warrant it being installed if it's ultimately going to help in the demise of my site.

This message came right after i hit #1 on G for my main KW.

Exactly. Google owns the fucking search engine, lol.

I don't know why people keep telling others to stop using Analytics/GWT.

i'm using histats, i love it since it very light and free.

What aren't you understanding?

Google can, and will detect if you're using blackhat methods on your website regardless of if you have Google Analytics or GWT on your website...

you know next they are going to start banning sites rom the Net if they "don't like your site" They'll cloak it in TOS but basically it looks like big bizz wants to control the Net and it's going to get its way!

I didn't highlight that enough...

ummm, they've been doing that for at least a decade now...
(ok, not from the net, but from the search engines, which almost amounts to the same)

that's exactly what I said. o.o

I know, I thought making it in big pretty colors would help others to understand ;)
I added your explanation of how that works, I think it makes it pretty clear, lol

I think what everyone is missing is yes of course google can see anything and everything. But you're a lot farther off their radar if you're not using their own software. I mean if you're doing some really awful against TOS things it won't matter, but if you're blending in the gray line that little bit of info you're feeding them (that they aren't seeking) can make you a target. It's a much different scenario if they find these things out on their own, as opposed to you assisting them in the progress.

Google doesn't use Analytics to analyze your website, you are not in a different position on their radar.
Especially in your case - the backlinks are NOT part of analytics / webmaster.
You could MAYBE make that argument if what you were doing was something on your OWN website (although it's still not actually valid)
But anything BH OFFSITE is not being analyzed with analytics or webmaster.

use piwik.. its best to have full control of your data. If google knew everything they wouldnt offer free service for you to use. These services from chrome to gmail to ga are all used to data mine you. If you dont use them then google will have a very hard time gathering information.

From reading the guidelines that leaked last year, as soon as you hit #1 you get a manual review. Pretty insane. I wonder how many people work as reviewers.

Trust me when I say they absolutely DO use your webmaster tools data when auditing your website.

You're absolutely clueless. They've offered these types of tools for a very long time, not to better inform themselves, but to keep website owners more informed in their SEO efforts.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, NO.

That isn't true at all, stop spreading this bullshit.

Group think here does not fully grasp GWT. Keep GWT. Drop Analytics.
