Google Search Console is rolling out dedicated performance reporting for Generative AI features, including AI-powered search experiences.

For years we've been measuring:
  • Rankings
  • Clicks
  • Impressions
  • CTR
But now Google is officially acknowledging that visibility inside AI-generated search experiences deserves its own reporting.

This is a big deal because it confirms that AI visibility is becoming a measurable SEO channel rather than just an experimental feature.

A few thoughts:

✅ AI Overviews are no longer a side feature.

✅ Google wants site owners to track AI-generated visibility.

✅ Traditional ranking reports may not tell the whole story anymore.

✅ AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) are becoming more relevant.

The interesting question is:

Will AI impressions become more valuable than traditional rankings over the next few years?

Imagine ranking #3 organically but getting featured prominently inside an AI-generated answer.

That could completely change how we evaluate SEO success.

I'm curious what everyone thinks.

Are you already seeing traffic from AI Overviews or AI search features?

And do you believe AI visibility will eventually become more important than traditional organic rankings?

i'm already seeing pages get visibility through ai features even when organic rankings stay unchanged.
that makes this data extremely useful.

I don't see the AI report in my own GSC yet either. Maybe it's a slow rollout. Good to know it's coming though. I've gotten some traffic from AI overview but no way to really track it yet. Tools like Semrush just count how many times you're mentioned in AI answers, not clicks.

AI recommendations in AI answers and organic rankings are two different metrics now. I've already seen cases where pages appear in AI-generated answers without holding the ANY organic position. If that trend continues, SEO strategies will evolve into SEO + GEO strategies.

I checked few of my GSC and none of have it yet. Is it like the GOOGLE DISCOVER/GOOGLE NEWS feature ? Some sees them and some doesn't ?

Anyone else seeing it ? Would like to see what the insights looks like in more depth.

PS: I checked a reddit post about it and wanted to publish it but saw it was already talked about here so skipped it and just replied here.

The useful part will be separating AI visibility from normal impressions. I would still, like, compare landing-page clicks and conversions before treating mentions as wins.
