Google Search Console shows errors that can affect indexing and SEO, but most of them are very easy to fix. Here’s a simple breakdown of the most common issues and what you can do.

1. Submitted URL Not Indexed

Google knows the page but didn’t index it.

Fix:
  • Improve content quality
  • Add internal links
  • Avoid duplicate content
  • Request indexing (optional)

2. Crawled – Currently Not Indexed

Google visited the page but didn’t find enough value.

Fix:
  • Add more helpful, unique content
  • Strengthen relevance by linking from related pages
  • Update outdated info

3. Alternate Page with Canonical Tag

Not an issue unless unexpected.

Fix (only if wrong):
  • Correct the canonical tag
  • Make each page unique

4. Duplicate Without User-Selected Canonical

Google sees two similar pages.

Fix:
  • Add a canonical tag
  • Rewrite duplicate parts
  • Remove duplicate URLs

5. Page with Redirect

Your sitemap contains redirected URLs.

Fix:
  • Remove redirected URLs from sitemap
  • Update internal links
  • Keep redirect chains clean

6. Server Errors (5xx)

Google couldn’t access your site.

Fix:
  • Check hosting/server status
  • Reduce heavy plugins/scripts
  • Fix SSL or configuration issues

7. Soft 404

Page looks empty or low-value to Google.

Fix:
  • Add real useful content
  • Remove thin/placeholder pages
  • Point broken links to proper pages

Simple Best Practices

  • Keep your sitemap clean and updated
  • Use solid internal linking
  • Make content unique and relevant
  • Check GSC weekly for changes
These simple fixes help your pages index faster and improve your overall SEO health.
