google search console coverage question

Newbie question

I have a site with the following on GSC coverage
0 error
0 valid with warning
170 valid
799 excluded

over 400 discovered not indexed
nearly 150 excluded by no index tag
over 100 excluded currently not indexed

What do do?
I think I need to manually index some of these links no?

Are your subpages that are not getting indexed filled with a healthy amount of content?

OK. My personal theory is that your site has a lot of 'thin content' or not enough content in general.

Remember, Google is not able to 'read' your images.

I'm sure you'd have a much higher index rate had those pages at the very least had some content on them in the form of text.

Maybe enable a community to leave comments?

You could try indexing them manually, but that's not something one should have to do. I have no problem indexing websites with content on them.

You're welcome. I'm sure other members will add their input as well.

If the pages have 500-800 words of original content yet aren't getting indexed - try submitting your sitemap to Google if you haven't already.

You shouldn't need to force subpages like that to get indexed, they usually do magically because of the content in my experience
