google ruining my meta descriptions?

hi im fairly new to seo and have recently came across an issue with my meta descriptions seeming to just be an absolute mess, i have them all done in rankmath manually, and even in the websites code the meta descriptions are correct,

but when i find my website on google, most of the time it just has some objectively terrible meta description just based off the headings on my page, and on duckduckgo they seem to entirely ignore the meta descriptions i add and just pull some random text put of the page and use that

anyone know what i should do to mitigate this, i am using wordpress + divi + rankmath

Google picks whatever it find relevent as meta description, are you ranking in top 10, top 3 or on first position? That's what you should focus on.
Now is there a way to force Google to pick your meta description? I don't know let's see if anyone knows and wants to share.

I don't even write meta description

It has been changed a few years ago. No matter what you fill up in the meta, Google will choose it manually from your content.
