Google releasing a large update today

Nope. Ive tried everything and even added AMP for my site, nothing has changed.

My site already had excellent health scroe before but had some speed issues and ive fixed everything to the core and im still where i was before. This is just insane.

I wont put any more energy into this site, if it recovers then good and if not then hell with it.

Same here mate i did something even build some link no use

Well, I'm being outranked by pretty much anyone at this point, my website is (or was..) an authority in its department, but, put a blogger site together and copy parts of my page and you will rank above me. This is a penalty 100%. Can you tell me how your Discover section looks like?

this is mine , sucks to core .....

+1 for the adwords theory.

And if you stop to think about that, it's exacty the same thing that facebook did along the years.

2012~1014, you could get sooooooo much traffic from fanpages and people sharing posts. But year after year, facebook reduced reach of any content sending people out of the plataform.

Many had to turn to ads if they depended on it.

I remember at one point receing 40% of my traffic from my fanpage (1mi fans), now is 5% with luck and posting viral stuff...

Of course, the increase of content helped this, as you can't have so much content showing you your timeline, but...

I gotta ask, for all those deranked, do you lean left or right?

With everything going on, I'm at the point where Google knows what I like and dislike on Youtube and this could be an anti-Trump update.

"Not on our side, derank".
Same as "They are not on our team, get them fired".
The people on the inside are evil and insane. Remember this.

Does anyone have experience with the content updates? I was thinking that I should update my articles, but before the update, most of them were in TOP 3, now most of them in the 2nd page of Google.

I published a new post and after 3h I shared the post on Reddit. Guess what happened? My Reddit post is ranking better than my site post. ahahahahaha

I know that a user said a few days ago that this update may be due to a huge discrepancy between the follow and nofollow backlinks and I am starting to think that there may be some truth here. I checked again my backlink profile and while there is no intentional spamming, I saw that lots of shops have linked to some of my pages hundreds (or thousands) of times for each available language and the new Google algorithm may actually see it as a backlink profile (a spammy one). Do you think it's a good idea to disavow a large portion of the nofollow backlinks? Also could it also be related to the whole new USG/sponsored approach to the nofollow links?

I wouldn't disavow ANY backlinks. How do you know which backlinks are good and which are bad in Googles eyes? Is it also said that links which are pure spam are ignored by Google, so they don't make you lose your rankings etc.

Another thing is that this update is pure bullshit. This thread is 60 pages long and no one knows what this update is about. Everyone tries to make changes to their websites but still they're not regaining their ranks. So what's the point? I'll not touch anything on my website as in my opinion its pointless. Either the ranks will get back to normal in the next few weeks or in the next G update. If not - then it's time to switch to another traffic sources as Google is making everything to make you buy adverts.

New, small websites are ranking high. Authority sites are mostly not being hit by the update. Sites that are between these two above got tanked.

Before the update I had some top keywords that very close to page one, I was pos 11/12 for keywords serached over 900,000 times, 600,000 times and 100,000 times. Then the May 2020 update dropped me to page 3/4. I was over optimized.
I made small changes, reduced content, reduced the number of internal links with anchor text pointing to internal pages, and I've seen an improvement in ranking to position 21, 13, 22 etc.

Haven't read this whole thread yet but it seems like Google is favoring sites with thin content. In my industry websites that do not look optimized for SEO have seen big improvements. Whereas those that would usually be considered good for SEO have seen decreases.

The catch is that the next update will probably be a 'reversal'. So we can under optimize now, but who wins the next time there will be an update?

I totally agree. At this point, no one really knows what is going on with google and the update. I've seen sites that have little to no backlinks rank high, authority sites like facebook/pinterest rank high, even spammy sites ranking high. It seems the main ones that got hit were the ones in between. More authority then a new site but less authority then the big companies. Every one in my entire niche got hit except for the tiny guy.

Completly agreed. Specially about small and new sites gaining a boost.

This make me think that freshness is still a important factor. The only change I saw after this mess, was updating outdated content. This could be a coincidence, ofcourse.
