Op let me tell you one thing, you are not going to find a tool like semrush for free. Even If you find one, its either new or completely shit.

There are a few threads here on BHW on how to get it without CC.
PS: I'm a cheap bugger and unwilling to pay $200 for these tools, the last time I used this thread to get free moz trial (just over a month ago and it worked).

For Keyword research based on ideas you should go straight for Keywords Planner
You can complement it with tools like keyword shitter or answer the public
But if you are looking for competitor keyword analysis, it's not that easy and you won't find any tool reliable for free, but as many has told you Ubersuggest can give you a little insight. Although their crawlers are poor and their information is hyperoutdated
