My folk is working on the SEO project of a website. Since, he has upgraded the website to SSL, Google rank seems to be dropping. Could anyone suggest what should be done? Or there is nothing is worry about. Looking forward to get some expert advice. Here is the URL plagiarismcheckerx.com

Yes, it does affect the ranking. you need to understand that all your old link might be pointing to http:// and not https:// and google theoretically consider these 2 variation as separate domain.

make sure to do proper redirection and it will be back sooner or later. Some other point which you should take care is canonical tag, sitemaps, robots.txt setting. You may have to update them with https if it has not happened automatically

Get rid of the https or do a 301 to http .

Https websites was suppose to get priority in the indexing from google but that was over the lack of domain name then other .exstention was born so the https didnt catch on .

I sugest http over https websites in ranking ...

Dont forget https is for heigh secure websites using protective data like forms with address , passwords or credit cards and bank info......(( there no over reason having the https protocol..

Thanks guys for your feedback. Since SSL slows down the speed of the website (load time), could it also be the rank dropping factor?

If you are running a wordpress blog , just change the url to https & wait for a week. Everything will be fine

i redirected the http version 301 to https, create a property in GWT for https, upload new https sitemap, let crawl the site from GWT https property...
now i lost all my first page rankings...ranks around 90-100 now...

i thought https is positiv for ranking...

how to help my site get rankings back? wait? turn back to http?

Put https in the google webmaster tools. If you submitted a site map before, submit a new one with the https.

should i upload and crawl via the https prop? or via both (http and https props)?

in my https prop it says upload new sitemap on 12. and processed on 16. (no rankings after this)...also it says 12 givien sites but 0 indexed

edit:\\ i found mistake i forget http to https in sitemap for the half of sites...
so i correct it und submit the new sitemap and indexing from https prop...

should i submit th enew sitemap also in http prop?

There is a transition period for smaller sites when you switch to https, your traffic might drop to zero, then return to normal once Google index is updated.
For larger sites (that are crawled very often), you'll get benefited almost immediately, positions will crawl up already on the next day - what happens next depends on your bounce rate.

With properly configured SSL the overhead of initial handshake is not that big to be a ranking factor.
Anyway switch to HTTP2 after migration to SSL, that will give you a good speed boost.

1) Put redirection. If someone tries to visit a page with http, he should be redirected to the https version of the same page of your site.

2) Check every thing several times and make sure you have changed https from http in web master tools and submitted the correct site map with https.

3) Try 'Fetch as Google' option of the web master tools, try some random https pages of your site and see if Google can catch everything properly.

4) If everything is fine, then wait few days to let Google understand that you have moved to https from http.

should i (re)-submit to the http prop also?

I don't know much about http prop, generically: if u previously submitted the site map with http urls, just make another sitemap with the https urls, and submit that

Yes it will cause the rank drop.. But don't worry in log term SSL will help a lot to boost the ranking..
For now just set redirect properly to https and also don't forget to change all links and resubmit sitemaps on google webmaster tools..

I have added the website in webmaster with https:// and there are only 30 pages indexed whereas in the http:// category Google has listed more than 150.
Do I need to remove my http:// website from Webmaster ? Or it is okay to keep it?
