There are lots of ways to improve the listings,use citations, reviews, optimizing pictures with keywords, geo targeting photo's, videos...its a long process which is why you should be charging good money for this service...

Press release submitted to 180 sites and G shows 225 results when a search was done on the pr title in quotes. No movement in SERP yet for my site but should give it a few more days to be fair. Others have reported boost to their sites after a pr. I won't do any other link building for the next 6 days to test this method.
Got another video testimonial today after cleaning the carpets of one of my first clients from 1995. Will be posting it on ytube then to GP listing and on my site.

My cleaning GP listing move up one spot to E. But my website had dropped out of the first 100 results but hopefully that's just the G dance. A couple of the press releases are showing up as high as page 4. Once it comes back I'm going to throw a blast of blog comments at it. I want to implement one strategy at a time to see the effectiveness of each.
The Dr.'s GP listing has not move, still at bottom of page 4. Website not in top 100 results yet.

I thought if I wait long enough my site will show up again in the serps. Well it's been nearly 2 frigging months and it's still in purgatory. The Dr's site is not in the top 100 either. The only thing I could think of is maybe I'm getting penalized for duplicate content. I'm going to change up all the content and see if that'll help.
My GP position did move up to the third spot and the Dr's dropped to page five. Will be doing more work on them.
On a more postive note, an EMD for my cleaning business all of a sudden show up and is at the bottom of the first page. I had totally forgotten about it for over a year and haven't done squat to it as far as backlinks...heck it only has one single page , but I'm going to build it out now. It got this far in the serps through on page seo alone. That's what can happen when the competition is really weak.
I haven't given up, just kinda quit for a little bit after getting hit by the big G hammer. I'm regrouping and plowing ahead.

Your performance should be tied to the creation of the "Place" and other tasks. The way I look at it is this... When a business owner buys a door, he doesn't pay according to how many people walk through it. Yet, if the door breaks he would expect the manufacturer to work on it. The expectations are different with Google Places, you need to be paid for time spent. Performance should and will be rewarded with more business. IMHO

Im not gp expert but something that worked for me and my mates taken from multiple guides ive read and general experience are the following.
Create 10-20 of the main citations a week or two prior to registering and give them a quick scrapebox blast to help them get indexed.
Make the gplaces and add images to it a coupon and fill everything in so its fully complete and has something to offer etc.
Make some more citations and again link to them via scrapebox
I then used some basic fiver services for some map links and some reviews that was it really
I also registered on some niche specific citation sites and mirrored my competitors citations.
Although It doesnt really help maybe also get a few links to your gplaces page it wouldnt harm.
Doing this although probably not 100% seo correct has helped me get A listings on a few.

Next step in citations is to find out what the competition have that I don't have and get those.
Make coupons should be easy to do, that I didn't know would help, so thanks for that.
Images will take a little work. Reviews is going to be tougher, real ones that is.

The dentist have agreed to $200/mo starting this month to have me work on getting him into the 7 box and continue monthly maintenance. Told him I'm giving a big discount, heck I didn't even charge him a setup fee. How much are you guys charging for this?
I've realized that my problem is getting each of the numerous little task done, such as creating 5 videos, so I'm going to buy all the services that I can. I've ordered a 3 video gig from fiverr just now. I'll see if I can locate some free photos, if not I'll just pay someone to get them for me. Receive the 3 videos this morning, put them on youtube and from there added them to the GP listing. The GP listing is now at position 16. Did it move up this fast after adding the videos? I've ordered 3 more videos to fulfill the 5 allowed on GP.
Today the GP is only showing a 3 box which is going to be a little more difficult to crack, hope it goes back to the 7 box. It says the business info is 85% complete on GP, hope I can figure out what the missing 15% is.

Do you use an anchor text for your press release? If so do you vary them? Does google not mind the duplicate content if your posting it to 180 Press Release sites?

Yes I used anchor text which was basically my url. I did not vary it, don't believe the service I used allowed more than one, I'll have to double check. I got sandboxed shortly after so maybe I got hit with duplicate content like you suggest.

you can get the mobile mobile phone verification IF the organization already guidelines in GP. A awesome way to get them to appear immediately on GP is to create a pile of information on big sites like howl, mobile mobile phone publication, source team etc. Then Big G will select it up and add it.
