Google Penguin's Unbelievably DEVASTATING Effects on SEO

Great share and effort I wont agree with the theory of forms . Here is an example on google.co.uk

the first site is

hxxp://housesforcashuk.co.uk/

which has a form and is a black hat spammed site . But still no 1 .and its a competitive niche.

Well, to be fair, it still has a good amount of visible text in the 800 x 600 region.

Most sites that were hit DON'T have any real content visible in that area, this site does. Even though it is a sitewide form on the header, it still has content.

To be fair, I haven't analyzed the .CO.UK SERPs, so I don't know how/if Penguin was rolled out there yet.
 
What's funny is that my main money site dropped for the main keyword (200Kish exacts) from #6 to #25, but one of my mini niche sites went from no where to #5 for the keyword. It's great and all, but how fucking stupid is that. Site barely has any links.

yeah, it seems sites with very few links rank very well...i am officially stumped with this update...everything is so random its ridiculous...

so many op's here say its onsite factors that penguin is targeting and so many others say its offsite seo...i fall in the offsite/backlinks causing the penalty as i have so many super long tail pages that still rank #1 and #2 and my money pages where I built the most links are no where to be seen, this makes me think its offsite seo that penguin is targeting...

my 2 cents...

in the back of my mind, I think this is google's attempt to destroy the seo industry...I do my own seo for my site, but if I employed an agency I am sure the same thing would have happened and if I had done this, I would have fired the seo company I employed within seconds of seeing my ranks tank like they did...

there is so much going on behind the scenes with this update, I don't even know where to start...

this is the million/billion dollar question...where to start?...at this point, its too early...there is a solution, but it will take time to figure it out...

and the BST section on this forum is not current right now, i wouldn't buy a service on here to recover from penguin, if anything, it will just make it worse...

any service in BST has to include more then ten keyowds/urls to make the service somewhat diversified...

panda is so yesterday's news, now its penguin...

I just don't understand how they are so willing to destroy businesses without a care in the world.
It would be like me going and bulldozing a McDonalds and telling the owner, "You're good at marketing, try and start from scratch, adapt." No reason what so ever, just out of the blue.

We are like pond scum to them. It's irrelevant to them if you lost 10k this month because Google's concern is the corporate fat cats lining their wallet. We are moving away from the days when Bob in his basement can rank a site and become an internet success. Welcome to the Walmart of the internet.

I'm trying to see why these older pages are still ranking in the SERPs, especially suspended, parked domains, etc.

And some of my sites seem to be coming back now.
 
Could this simply be a temporary weeding process algo - bringing all the crap to the top briefly so they can manually review and penalize or de-index?

One of my sites - that earns me nothing as it's unmonatizable - is a specialist interest site built around my interest for others sharing the same interest (nothing sordid honest!) and its been #1 for 2 years, getting 600 uniques a day, no big cheese. It's an EMD dot com and also gets a bunch of long-tail naturally.

It's filled with genuine unique content from me and some friends that answers everything there is to answer on the subject. I've got a single 300x250 adsense block in the RH margin and thats it.

All links are genuinely built by people linking to the site - i built nothing artificial.

It's not particularly optimized other than a few H tags and a couple of alts and titles.

Anyway the point is it's now sitting at the bottom of page 2 and I'm getting 20 a day if I'm lucky. 100% unique and pretty much unmonatized content.

Page one is FILLED with completely unrelated garbage and answers-type sites with a single paragraph vaguely on topic.

Google has been saying that they want webmaster to focus on creating great content. So whats that leave us with penguin?

Websites that have good/great on page seo are getting b-slapped.

Websites that dont have a wide arrange of anchor texts are being b-slapped by google. White hat WM, and I use the term white hat loosely, do there manual link building well there anchor texts are going to be still there KW. If a website is going to rank naturally its going to have many many different anchor texts

Finally when you have a huge amount of sites (googles so called 3%) getting "taxed" there is going to be a natural ripple in the serps. Link values have to be recalculated which causes a large shift in the serps.

Im sure there was some other adjustments as well, like this above the fold bullshit. Anyways this is my theory, take it or leave it.
 
The majority of my sites are back to close to where they used to be.

Yeah I've been seeing this too. That doesn't make any sense... I'm wondering what Google engineers are trying to do.
 
first time we see SERP changing not because of the one outranks another, but because mass amount of sites went down, leaving void on the top, that being filled with garbage.

Yipee... google is manually deleting some of the popular examples of their recent update's failures... this must mean that it's a temporary thing!

All my sites have been affected. This algorithm seems to be purely about anchor text and 'unnatural' links. I bought an old domain a while back that had some xrummer spam links, the site however is quality I have gone from about 300 uv to 50. Other sites I have are similar they don't have xrummer spam links. The serps are shit and that cubed headed wanker cutts is laughing his arse off.

I have a client site that also looks the same. I have no unnatural link messages in GWT, I have no idea what they are thinking, maybe it is to boost PPC again, but god knows how that works. The sites that have replaced these queries are low quality and 'not optimized' All my graphs look like slopes downhill.
