Google will now alert you if pages of your site are duplicated on other domains (and the other domain is ranking): http://tDOTco/u (replace DOT with a period).

You can also find the same article at search engine land

This comes from Vanessa Fox, former Google employee. I think she was in charge of indexing Websites at Google. I've always liked and respected her and certainly keep her on my "friends" list at Facebook.

At any rate, this news should shed some important light on the big debate of duplicate content and to scrape or not to scrape.

I will ask her if Google will also know if content is spun and get back to you.

this might be too early to say but can anyone confirm this?

i normally use content to spark my writing/typing so i dont think this will effect me too much.

I think it's rather compelling. Original website owners will know. Articles directories will certainly know. It will be harder to use scrapped content for obtaining links.

I write all original content for clients so I'm happy about it. So many of my articles have been stolen. They even put their names on my articles.

    Very Interesting,
Owning an advertising website I am sure my site will be flagged 100's of times as idiots simply copy the content from their own website to promote it on mine.

Anyway we shall see what evolves from this.

    Best regards
    Arran Wood

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I always wondered how long it woudl be before G decided that perhaps letting website owners know that they know the content is duplicated would be a good way to "correct" the behavior rather than just de-indexing and forcing the owner to wonder exactly which improper practice was the one that got them zapped.

unique content is one of the key factor to kepp your site in good books of google, so make sure whatever content you have in your site are not plagiarized and are unique

Spun articles can also be unique if you do the spintax properly
