Google My Business website

I have seen from some time now the option of building a website on google my business. Since the GMB is becoming the businesses' new homepage, I'm considering doing one.

Has anyone done it? Recommendation? Best practices? Pros and cons? How does it affect the main website? Is it more like an additional GMB feature or more like a Social Media platform...
