Google March 2024 Core Update Released: bigger than before!

I've tried this on 2 sites. Both sites have not ranked at all.

It appears to me that Google knows the content came from the original sites.

That is, it is better not to move them, but to leave them on the pessmized site and abandon this site altogether, concentrate on the new ones! Maybe in a year it will come out from under this filter ...

Did you use a 301 to redirect from your old domain to the new one or not?

Could you not reword the old content before publishing it in the new domain?
 
I did not 301 the old domain.

But I think Google knew anyway because the content was identical to what it had already indexed on another domain. Which makes sense.

You can fix the old site and do a full splice to the new one! I will do such an experiment!
 
Seems like this spring was really a lot of stress for SEOs, from this massive March update in the beginning all the way to Google leaks in the end of May

August 2024 core update15 Aug 202419 days, 4 hours

So August 2024 core update just finished rolling out about a week ago.
And it's been half a year since your traffic drop.

Have you got your traffic recovered? Or your traffic got improved?

@DanDanger How about you? Did your traffic recover?
 
Out of 100+ sites that were killed. 2 recovered.

For most the sites I removed thin content and upgraded all core content.

5 of the sites I disabled Adsense. Which interestingly the 2 that recovered were part of the 5 sites that I also removed Adsense.

DId they recover from before or after the August core update?

My website got penalty what can I do

I had 100+ micro niche sites hit and killed in the March update.

I tested all different combinations of the following on groups of 5 or more websites:
- 301 redirect to new domain.
- move content to a new domain.
- completely update core content.
- remove "thin" content.
- disabled adsense.


How many sites recovered after the August core update? ...... 2.

2 out of 100+ sites.

The sites that recovered were "update content - remove thin content - disable adsense". Disable adsense appeared to be the key difference. 2 out of 5 sites with this specific combination recovered. By "recovered" i mean, they re-appeared in search, but traffic and sales are no where near what they used to be.


Maybe you will get lucky and your site will bounce back after the next core update (March 2025).

For me the effort of attempting to "fix" a site with a penalty, to get a 2-30% chance it will recover a small bit of traffic in 6 months, is far too much - compared to minimal effort of building out a new site.

You will need to decide what its worth to you.

Yeah, these latest HCU classifiers have been way too harsh. It took many sites hit by the September update last year 11 months to recover a little bit of their traffic.


I will definitely start a new site. I think I will re-edit all the content that gets published. I am just not sure about the about page since I was planning on using the same author, which is me. What do you think?
