I am working on a system that will automatically populate a WordPress site with thousands of pages of content. I setup a test of this system on a subdomain and forgot to set WP to private. The content I used for this test was nonsense that I took from two other sites I've been working on. When I went to check how one of those other sites is ranking (it's a new site, not WP, with 140K pages so Google has not indexed everything yet) I discovered that my completely not optimized test site was ranking #1 and #2! Granted the keyword was not at all competitive, but my site was so bad it should not have ranked at all! The page ranked #1 at least had a matching title tag, but the page ranked #2 had a title tag of "Test | Page 6". My best guess is that WP automatically pinged the pages when they were created. Anyone have any thoughts? Just luck or does Google really love WP sites?
