google give first importance to https rather than http for ranking ? Is it true ?

correct. This is a low-hanging fruit and should be easy to knock-off. Treat is like a v2/v3/v4 thing to do. I am starting something off on http first, and will upgrade it to https next month or two

Yeah i come to know this recently

I have already said this many times this year but yeah, in 2018 (don't know the exact date) at least google will give visual warnings to users for non encrypted sites which will lower trust.

On the upside installing SSL is easy and if don't have hundred of thousands visitors you can use the free SSL's out there.

For new projects I usually add it, it’s simple and doesn’t cost much. For old projects I see my kw on serp, if most others have https on page 1, I add it, otherwise I consider adding it.

not at all https cant able to rank if u converted to https for ranking for a ranked site ur site ranking goes down which happened to me before ... so be aware

It's been said to influence your ranking. So who knows. Doesn't hurt to do it honestly. It brings a level of respect/trust from your site visitors for sure though.

It is no problem to switch to https without any problems like traffic/position lost... But if you have no idea how works redirect don't do it.

Of course yes. Because all the websites should be secured with SSL is important for nowadays. So it's better to use https for our site to increase ranking little faster than http site.

Yes.

I targeted a very simple local keyword and ranked on 2nd page with on-page only. Ranking were pretty stable. After few weeks I installed SSL and site moved to 1st page. It's very highly likely the SSL caused it.

Chrome already gives a warning on http sites that collect any type of information (email opt in or buy links of any kind) - this warning can potentially kill conversions, so yes, https is very important

With over 500 indicators being used by Google in determining your site's ranking or authority, HTTPS represents one of these indicators. Although it may not be an extremely strong indicator, it still is one of the indicators used.
The Big G has evolved so much that future indicators are designed in determining whether your site is an automated site or perhaps it is a legit online business. So by having more indicators that your site represents a legit business, such as having HTTPS and perhaps registering the domain for a minimum of 5 years in advance - those are also some good indicators and can translate to good rankings in the process, as they are telling them - Hey! I'm a serious business trying to expand online.
You can also try other indicators like registering a Google business page for locally searched keyword advantage or perhaps having a LinkedIn account, or having a good social media presence would help as well.
