Interesting...Site speed is going to become a factor it seems and whether you agree or not, it looks as though that is the deal.

Fortunately a lot of my sites are content rich and graphic poor so I may be well set...then again it could be bollocks as Google seems to be a law unto itself.

I wouldn't get to wrapped up it site load time....this has been there since the year 2000

Involving, JavaScript and flash. JavaScript should reference an external file (some say it slows it down even further...)

Flash should have the no embedded tags so that the bot can get information from it outside of the swf

Video was ok, but its only a trickle of regurgitated proper coding information that's been said over and over again

focus on quality unique content and quality themed ( relevant ) back links and caffeine will follow just like the previous index.

Im already seeing that come true with clients, as i check both current SERPs and Caffeine SERPS

It's funny, before I started out learning about SEO, I assumed that Google found what I asked it to find. I assumed that if I searched for something on Google and I got no results, it didn't exist anywhere on the internet.

I don't really see what they're trying to do. It's very nice that Google are trying to make the web faster and prettier, but they're a search engine and their job is to get results. True, I don't want a lot of junk directories (which I often get anyway) but I'd rather wait 10 seconds for a site with quality, useful content to load than jump through a series of fast loading but vacuous sites.

Ho hum. That's my take as a web user. As a webmaster, I guess I'll have to adapt.

So content isn´t king like everybody says... Google gives more attention to backlinks and thats crap... we got a website at #1 for the keyword prepaid (www.prepaidy.de) here in germany and the site has fu**ing 100 words on the startpage... I really give my best to give the people the best unique content and informations but can´t really get ranked... thats crap... there are so many awesome websites out there with full of awesome content but google ain´t give a shit because only those shity backlinks are important...

I tend to agree. I have got one site that has 123 posts on it - all of them with a minimum of 250 words and they are expertly optimised as I paid someone to do it. I rank on page 1 and 2 on Google for 3 of my targeted keywords and the site has approx.1000 BLs which is comparable to most of my competitors.

However there is one site that doesn't have the keyword in their domain name, only 6 pages indexed in Google and no posts - straight forward static site but it has over 9000 BLs and it ranks at number 1 in a very competitive niche.

To further prove the point, I have a brand new site (keyword in domain) that has 2 posts and 4 pages indexed and just 8 BLs and it is number 3 on page 1 of G, again in a very competitive niche.

It seems to me that having the keyword in your domain name is the most important, then BLs and then content. Obviously if you get all 3 then you will do great but the days of me throwing shit loads of content at my sites are long gone. Content is king...? I don't think so...

Well probably try to speed up the site a little bit won't hurt.
I totally agree with "hmeister" It is very hard sometimes to work out how google ranks the web sites.......
