Google Broad Core Update December 2020

This update is a bit curious.
The hammer came very strong last friday. But after friday, rankings almost didn't move.
Usually it takes days or weeks for an update to roll.

Can you not just keep things professional? You lower the tone of the whole forum with these unproductive comments.

Let's talk real, tangible things. Share insights that are valuable. Remember our goal here is to grow our businesses. Let's share with that goal in mind.

None of the stuff you share is valuable.

You're just virtue signaling while spreading disinformation. You're here to look good for Google, that's all.

That's as high a level as I'll go with you.

BTW I saw your tens of latest posts with 100% BS and wrong SEO advice from a complete newb. I avoided responding, because I know you got a personal issue with me, and you obviously just want the attention.

where can i suck to improve my rankings?

Edited.

Maybe I'm lost in translation... How can anyone be here to "look good for Google"? @splishsplash may be here to give his own advice and sell his services, but to look good for Google?

I read and try to find valuable pieces of info from each one of you, regardless of the feuds. But your statement is childish if you don't point out the BS and wrong SEO advice. It can't be all bad, you know? Not 100%.

Also, you do respond. Your previous post is a response. Too bad you do not go further and show us the BS.

Wow, 100% BS and wrong SEO advice.

Can't say much to that! :-)

I guess all the people that I've helped who have gained better rankings just got lucky.

Saw a HUGE boost in Friday (and throughout the weekend) I suspected it might be a Google update. Actually hoping it sticks as site has come back from prior core updates.

I only do 1-2 guest posts a month and 1-2 articles a month. I have been boosting my authority in my niche through certifications (and posting pictures, videos and articles to "inform" Google AI) so perhaps my EAT got a boost.

But honestly I have no clue what is the driving factor of my sudden boost.

I wish you nothing but success on your SEO work.

That doesn't meant your virtue signaling here is helping others. Calling it like it is is more helpful IMO. I'm not polite but I'm not dishonest.

We got a bad case here where Google is simply leeching everyone's work, more and more, every update, they take more from everyone. Just so pinterest and others can spam the world away and make millions of $ while they impose strict rules that are simply meant to distract. Zero of what they say works. They just want to distract from the real SEO which is what Pinterest does. Pinterest scrapes, produces mass content on a industrial level and gets away with it. I'm citing pinterest but there are literally thousands of sites who get away with it.

I just noticed a blip on a client's site. I searched for stuff and guess what....AMP....they're showing AMP results even though that site gets 90% score on speed test.

It's just absurd.

You seem to mind when I call out the truth about Google. I respect your disagreement but if you're gonna say that what I say isn't helping, then I'm sorry mate. Your white knight attitude is 100% wrong. Sorry for calling it bullshit but that's what it seems like.

Have a good day.

Do you use mass spam or spammy backlinks on your websites?

If you do, how do you get on in big G's results?

What you call white knight I call being a professional and not wallowing in self pity like a baby.

Each to his own :-)

Do you consider a U$ 2000 link from FAMOUSBRAND spammy?

Is it OK if brands exchange links worth thousands among each other?

What do you call spammy links, exactly?

What you call white knight I call being a professional and not wallowing in self pity like a baby.

I've been doing this since the mid 1990's..... I do SEO since before Google existed.

I was here before Google and I will be there the day Google is dismantled by the courts.

And you will still be on forums posting the same stuff. I guess that's the difference between us.

No I don't consider a $2000 link from a famous brand spammy.

That's a good link by the sound of it.

I have no idea what this is related to.....

I was just interested in how you work online.

Maybe I've missed something.

Do you follow Google guidelines or are you more "blackhat" or what?

I wasn't having a pop at you or anything....

To me, spammy links are buying hundreds of blog comments for $5

It was a rhetorical question.

To me there are no spammy links. Every link is a link.

Just because you pay U$ 2000 for a link it doesn't make it good. But Google thinks otherwise. They get to decide which links are OK and who gets to trade links.

well in theory your right.

But.....If you bought a GSA blast of blog comments to your money site do you think it would improve your rankings?

Seeing how many agreed with splishsplash's post that I should "keep it professional", I'm no longer gonna post in google update threads.

Maybe I'm not professional enough and I realize that.

Let's keep it pro-Google in here. Barto out.

Right, ok. :)

Discussion ends here to be honest.

Didn't you post before asking people for websites to do an analysis? You said you would get back to people on these sites with your findings.
I shared some websites too, and I don't even want to be salty about it. I did my own analysis on my own data just fine.

Heard jack-shit back from you. Smart way to get data I admit. But I am not going to read you talk about professionalism.

Bart proves his point with good logical steps. Stop acting so high and mighty. I have helped people too, that are ranking well. Doesn't magically make me good at SEO.

You want to act professional? Let me give you one.
Professional simply means "engaged in a specified activity as one's main paid occupation rather than as a pastime.". Most of us here are making our living with SEO. This is how most SEO people communicate. You didn't dictate what that is supposed to be like.

Not here to discuss anything further, just my two cents.

ON topic. This update just feels like a repeat on whatever happened in May. I love anyone to have statistical data to show otherwise. But in Europe it's pretty much the same. My guess, is that corona behavior changed user behavior and the algo is having trouble dealing with that. This update was just a repeat because Google was being pressured on the CORE update being so delayed.

While I appreciate you were one of the very few who sent their site over for my study, I didn't get nearly enough submissions to do the statistical analysis I wanted to do.

Only about 15 people submitted a site. I needed about 100 to make it worth while, and I needed ones that had both dropped and gained. I got 1 that gained, and the rest had dropped.

It turned out to be futile sadly.

I have since learned what the update actually was. I would offer to share with you, but you're clearly pretty pissed, when really there's no reason to be. I did nothing personally to harm you. I just asked for data, didn't get enough data and thus couldn't do my study. I'm sorry I wasn't able to give you free help in exchange for 5 minutes of your time. I would offer you a refund, but I have no way of giving you those 5 minutes back.
