Google Broad Core Update December 2020

Biggest changes I've noticed since yesterday is the 2-3 (or more) Amazon product and category listings are being stripped back out to just a single link so seeing recovery... Been knocked on a few KWs (but these ones are to bigger brands) and in all honesty I shouldn't have been sat at No.1 for so long in them spots either so I'm not worried about the loss on them!

I've also started to notice a lot more Amazon PPC... maybe they always been there but I'm spotting them on super long tail keywords as well at the moment.

On the whole I think the SERPs seem much cleaner than the update last week. Hopefully it stays this way but I doubt it.

We got some theories at the moment as to what is going on but brand and age seem to be getting decent gains but not in all niches.. ours is a mix!
i am seeing incredible number of ads on the top of the 1st page for my niche after 4th Dec
it is not very hot and popular and commercial niche so it is strange

Do you have anything in your niche (that you know of) has a featured snippet result? IF so when you search that have you noticed ads have been pulled back to just 1 at the top fo the page followed by featured snippet, people also ask then search results and ads at bottom of the page?

Its exactly same pattern for one of my sites. Went up on 4th and yesterday fell off the cliff.

Anyone relying only on SEO to earn a living online is simply not serious.
Do you have other businesses or side hustles to protect yourself from going broke? I wonder about this too.

After a terrible day yesterday where I was down 60 percent today, i'm down another 50 percent from yesterday's low. I'm getting slaughtered. It doesn't look like there is any letting up. If this keeps up this update will have lost me at least 40% of traffic. For those that followed me and a big traffic boost followed by declines are you seeing any signs of a letdown or are you still tanking as well?

seems i've not noticed anything with snippets, but instead of them along with ads i am seeing now Google Play apps at the top.

Half of them are not 100% relevant to what people are searching for.

Yet another core update, frequency increasing. Just more proof The Big G just wants to kill SEO even for legit companies they buy ads

I'm really getting slaughtered right now. I've been pulling over 1k users a day consistently and now I'm lucky to even get 2-3 visitors an hour. 1 year old website, killer content (subjective, obviously), whitehat and all. "Just Focus on Content" my ass. Hopefully, this is just a temporary way to force businesses to buy more ads, but I wouldn't be surprised if it stays that way.

aaah, I thought I was seeing a positive development...and then, after four days of hope, I was just slaughtered again.

When is this thing going to be over?

This thing is really sad and scary, it starts looking like your coming back up, then you are slapped again.

Mehn!!! Damn!! I just hope everything can settle down, this circle is pissing me off.

I just pray I have enough cash to invest in something else, I hate that my happiness depends on one thing.

This can give HBP.

I personally don't blame Google, I don't believe in all this conspiracy of "ads" and "bigger sites" I just see a company who are doing what they FEEL is the best but again, some get hurt others don't.

But I feel every body who survives from the SEO field should look for a way to branch out, because Google will fuck you up and it's not their fault, they don't owe us shit.

Traffic has plateaued. Feels like being kicked in the nut sack over and over again. Fuck you Google.

Folks @ CNN and BBC are not happy with the latest update, and I'm not surprised. Don't totally depend on SEO for traffic, you'll get fucked.

I wonder who still buys SEO services these days considering the dangerous monopoly Google enjoys.

Same! Finally seeing my rankings get back to normal (and some even better than pre update) after a long week of dropped rankings!

Still early to say but happy to see keywords gaining back positions! :)
Yes, mine too. ranking slowly recovering where it is before the update.

My rankings have come back on 1 of my sites!
Got some positions back today.
Now, because I'm greedy I want more!
Like a lot of you, my rankings have somewhat recovered in the last 12 hours for the sites that were hit.

Google is an enigmatic cunt sometimes.
Same Here, rankings recovered on 2 of my sites after a week.
Some of my rankings have bounced back slightly. Not close to them all but some.

Traffic has slightly improved the last 2 days. It's probably 50% down now as opposed to 60% at the start of the update.

to all of you guys who saw your ranking improve in the last 48-72 hours, did you notice that it got tanked again?

But i am looking at this all with a pokerface though

What else brings the amount of traffic as SEO? Paid ads? Social media?

This is us... Although the semrush sensor reported activity last Friday? We saw the dip start to happen on the Monday (we put it down to seasonal traffic - which does have a small impact on us) but figure it's more of a 5-7 day roll out much like @bartosimpsonio has said in the past..

Our average position has taken dive as well but that's OK it's no where near as bad as last Friday!
