Google "Auto-Apply" is a scam?

woke up to see google changed my best campaigns to broad match without asking. roas dropped from 4.0 to 0.8 overnight. has anyone found a way to permanently kill these "auto-recommendations" or is google officially in control of our accounts now?

Do you have "Auto-apply" enabled in your recommendations tab ? If so, Google Ads will automatically implement optimizations (like keyword changes or bid adjustments) to your account / to your campaigns.
Please see : https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/10276359?hl=en and immediately do your needful, otherwise you will suffer from wasted ad spend(s).
 
I checked and its was off. it feels like google keeps hiding these toggles in new menus every month just to mess with our settings any one else seeing this?
 
You can disable some auto recommendations, but Google still controls parts of delivery, so you need to monitor and manually lock your campaign settings.
 
yeah google is definitely trying to automate everything just to increase their own revenue so you should always keep auto-apply disabled in the recommendations tab. if you leave it on they will change your keywords to broad match or increase bids without asking and your roas will just tank overnight like everyone else is saying. it is much better to review everything manually even if it takes more time because at least you know where your money is actually going.
 
You can disable these overrides by navigating to campaigns>>recommedations>>auto apply. then unchecking every box under maintain your ads and grow your business and finally verifying that the broad match keywords toggle is set to off within your individual campaign settings
 
You can limit it by turning off auto-apply recommendations and using manual settings, but Google still keeps some control over optimization.
 
No permanent fix, but you can disable auto-apply recommendations and stick to manual settings with negatives to keep control.
 
Yeah, it’s super annoying. Google keeps pushing these auto changes, and there’s no real way to fully stop them. You can try turning off “auto-apply recommendations” in your account settings, but sometimes Google still changes stuff. Best is to check campaigns every day and undo anything bad fast, cause they can really tank ROAS overnight.

I do not call it a scam, but it can mess things up if you leave it on. it makes changes on its own and sometimes spends more without real results.
 
Yeah, Google keeps hiding settings. It’s super annoying! Check your campaign settings often, and maybe use scripts or third-party tools to track changes. They’re definitely making it harder to control.
 
Google keeps pushing automation, so I always manually review recommendations and turn off auto-apply settings, otherwise it will keep changing things and messing with performance.
 
I stopped trusting auto-suggestions completely and now I always duplicate campaigns before making any change, so even if Google messes with one, I still have a clean control version running.
 
Google is very invasive with their automation. You should put in balance google recommendation and only after research do them

Yeah, it’s annoying! Even if "Auto-Apply" is off, Google sometimes makes changes. Check your settings regularly and turn off recommendations to stay on top of it. It’s a hassle, but you can manage it with some effort.
 
Ugh, Google flipped my campaigns to broad match without asking, and my ROAS tanked. Honestly, there’s no way to fully stop these auto-recs you just have to keep declining them.
