So Penguin ruled out......I think if not Penguin and Rankbrain then it might have something to do with their main algo Hummingbird.

No you can change them over and wait, or disavow.
I have full control over my pbn so i've changed them.
I had 40% exact match.

Google doesn't tell you if your rankings decrease because of an algo change - only if they decrease because of a manual penalty. You probably won't get a message in WMT.

Unless there's another algo that can drop sites -90, this is Penguin but they're waiting until it rolls out in the USA to announce it.

I agree, after watching the Euro SERPS for weeks, I'm convinced this is Penguin being tested (I've been here through every Penguin and know what it looks like), but it hasn't been tested in USA yet. I take it they're waiting for Euro data before rolling out in USA.

No major SERPS were affected in the USA. They rolled it out then rolled it back (I saw #2 on payday loans drop to #10 but now he's back at #2).

These SERPS remain the same as they were before the update, where as in other countries like Germany, the SERPS have been 100% changed.

I analyzed a few members backlink profiles (these members all dropped positions heavily since sept 1st) and they didn't have anything major going on that should have hurt their rankings.. This includes my own rankings as well. What are the odds that so many members would post about a rank drop within the USA right after this update..

I saw massive gains and drops in the US. All high comp KW's in the legal niche. Over 60 sites tracked.

Never take Google for their word. They BS us all the time.
Nevertheless, with what i've heard, penguin looks pretty probable but I'm not taking any sides yet. I think to do so would be a rookie mistake.

Another example of a hit. We all need to come together and figure out what exactly they were targeting. Please let me know if you are interested in working on identifying the problem.
