I have joined as an intern in a company. They have a marketing agency running their google ads and I have view only access to the Google ads account. How should I proceed learning and understanding how ads are working so that in future, I can convert a google ads performance marketing role in any other company

Use the data and learn

data is the key , also you can check the change history and understand what are the changes made and learn why they did those changes.

Don't only look at what they do, ask why they did things as well. This is the more important aspect.

Thanks guys. I will keep this in mind. I am doing a course in parallel (Google Ads Masterclass) but I guess the guy who created the course did it 5 years ago that's why new data and campaigns are key.

You can take Google's classes (they're free, and you can take a certification exam at the end)

I appreciate this I’m a smacked ass contractor not sure where to start before I start throwing money on ads. This gets me in the right direction

As previous members have stated it's all about the data with Adwords. Observe as much as you can and learn as much as you can from it. Best of luck

It's a good start. Mastering Adwords , like all forms of digital marketing, take serious dedication. Of course practically anyone can learn the basics but to get truly good at it you really have to invest in your own education and real world application. Hope it works out for you

Run ads is very easily, but know how to do it effectively and optimize campaign is that all you need to learn. Because run ads just want to reach more people and take more information from customers calls data

Start by analyzing campaign data to understand performance metrics and ask the agency for insights on strategy, while also pursuing Google Ads certifications to build your expertise.

Explore the Google Ads account, track performance and get certified to build your knowledge for a future role.
