Goodbye Twitter Scraping?

These platforms are famous because they are free and unlimited. I hope it doesn't continue like this. Otherwise it will be the downfall of a very big platform.

Many news publications rank for content that's hidden behind a paywall. It doesn't take much to allow Google crawlers access so I don't think this would have much, if any effect on SEO.

I think people forget Twitter is a private business now, not some publicly funded company that's throwing away money like they used to. Twitter API is now paid. How many people do you think are scraping instead? I don't think you realize how much bandwidth and money that really costs, especially at the scale of Twitter.

I'm really interested how many people here complaining calling Elon dumb would be perfectly OK with all of this eating up their bandwidth and $$$ every month.

With that said, Elon was way over his head with this purchase and most likely doing everything he can to show solid numbers and get Twitter back public so he can exit without losing too much cash.

I'm willing to bet the play here is to force scrapers to create bot accounts to maximize on the 600 or 6,000 limit (Twitter blue). And use those numbers to show "growth".
 
even if you buy twitter blue, going to be hard to scrape b/c 10k posts a day is not a lot. you'd need a ton of accounts and proxies, which is going to get expensive and also be super annoying. the API is not much better for scraping...i think it is like 1 million per month.
 
They want to make demand for accounts with a blue mark :D
 
Is it not possible to just scrape followers still, with accounts that are logged in? Or scrape people liking a tweet?
 
I've said this before perhaps elsewhere, but Twitter scrapping won't go away. The only thing I expect it to happen is change. This change includes whatever data may be scrapped that can be.
 
Even I'd say they are attempting to compel to purchase twitter blue. The limit is been surpassed and they are unable to view their regular feed.

Considering all businesses for the most part hitched their wagons to social media you will be killing marketing and advertising in one swoop if it all shuts down.

Blue tick has been adjusted now IMO reach is higher than before, so worth it IMO

Funny tho every spam bot is using blue tick LOL

There's still quite a lot of ways to scrape Twitter. Your two main options are existing scrapping tools working in current day Twitter or just have a one custom made for it. For the latter, you can have one coded on the Hire a Freelancer section.
 
Good decision to stop spam and make x platform clean.
