Can anyone recommend a good VPS host? It will be used to run scripts to take some of the load off my dedicated server. I'm looking for the best bang for the buck

hostgator & knownhost are good.

Cheap ones I've never used but have heard are good (or ok at least) are:
volumedrive (cheap with cpanel even)
slicehost (more expensive when you add cpanel)
