Hi,

I've managed to get my two keywords ranked highly in g00gle

keyword 1 is bouncing between #3 - #1 : 1300 exact searches per month
keyword 2 is bouncing between #2 - #5 : 6000 exact searches per month.

I am only receiving an average of 5 visitors a day?

Anyone able to give me some pointers or info as to why I am not getting any traffic.

Thanks in advance,

How do you check your rankings? Maybe you are getting a false reading. How long have you been ranking for it? If you want to PM me your site/keywords I can check the information better for you. I am not interested in stealing your niche or something so you don't need to worry.

1. Make sure you're logged out of your google account.
2. 1300 visitors per month is 43 visitors a day. If you get to #1 you'll get 20 visitors a day. At 2-3 you'd get about 4-5. 6000 searches per month is 200 searches per day, which means if you were #1, you'd be getting around 80-100 visitors a day. At #3-#5, you'd probably get about 20 visitors a day.
So all that being said, you're probably logged into your google account. Try going to zend2.com or *****cloak.com and going to google then search.

Sorry...didn't read the post properly and am editing the answer. It could be that you just moved up to #1 in a few datacenters while you rank lower in others. Wait a couple of weeks to see if you move to #1 across the board. Traffic should improve then.

Also, remember that the Google search keyword analytic tool shows a 12 month trailing average. So, if you have something seasonal, the search volume for the current month can be very different from the 12 month trailing average.

I check my rankings in multiple ways.

I use Market Samurai, Google, Google with a USA proxy and my work, at home.

It varies between all of them but I am in the top 5 on all checks...

Are the first few listings from big name authority sites that are very popular. If people are seeing what they need in the first 3 results, the other positions will get very little traffic.

In addition, if your domain name or description are terribly written and unprofessional looking, you will get very little traffic. Also, if you are "bouncing" in the ranks, consider the lowest position as your average, just to be safe.

Yes both keywords have an authority site above it.

A fresh check I am #3 for kw1 and there is two authority sites above me
#5 for kw2 and there is 1 authority site and a couple of others above me <-- fresh keyword I'm ranking at the moment.

Will I be able to out-rank an authority site?

If anyone is keen to mentor me on a new keyword I should try rank for and give me some tips and pointers along the way, would be sick.

As I said above, I ranked the two keywords I chose pretty easily. I am still going to see if I can out-rank those authority sites and see if that changes the traffic. I would like to be given a keyword that I can rank for pretty easily, just so I can have some proof that being #1 means all the difference.

I am able to offer web development related services in exchange for your help if you require them :).

Thanks in advance,

Did you check the exact option for keywords? That must be the true traffic for keywords. And can you name keywords here, so I can analyze things for you.

to turn off personalized search put this behind the google url
Code:
&pws=0

please read my posts, i am using exact search... and i'm using multiple proxies, locations and software to check my ranking.

Who here is doing micro niche sites and getting a decent amount of traffic?

The problem with authority sites is that many people might actually use Google to quickly find the relevant page on the authority site. For example, if someone was looking for a cell phone review, they might just type xxx cell phone in Google to look for that phone's review on an authority site like Cnet. They already know what they want to see. Even if Cnet is listed at number 2, they might just click there right away. That way, authority sites can be a real pain even when you get to the top three.

But, authority sites usually don't target keywords in a literal fashion. They usually write for readability while people like you and me write for readability and search engines. So, you have a bit of advantage to beat them and get to the number 1 spot...where you will get at least 45% of the traffic unless you have something ridiculous in your page title, as Kickflip has suggested.
