    Hello BHW

I have a low-gravity CB product I have in mind to promote. I have built a site around a low-search, low-competition keyword (about 1300 globals a month). It is my first site and I'm promoting it using all the wonderful info I've found here.

However, for a bit of fun, I decided to research a very high-search keyword phrase(about 15000 globals). What I found was rather interesting. Of the top 10 results in Google, about 2 or 3 were either product pages or opt-in squeeze pages (There was a product page at #2). Some of these pages have as little as 19 backlinks!

Now I don't know if it's just my utter newbishness, but I feel my SEO-sense tingling. What do you guys think?

EDIT: It seems the phrase had a low PBR; there are 3600 global searches for the exact phrase.

I have faced similar situations many times... I have tested different keywords tool and none of them return near accurate result... Few months back I started some new niches which were displaying some big search result. After making site and doing SEO i was able to rank on them mostly (1-3 position) in some cases as many as 4 rank on those keyword terms but when search started coming it was frustration... I was not getting even 1/50th of what was wordtracker and google adwords displayed. This was very competitive term and taken good time and resource of mine.

Then again i stumbled upon one keyword which got "not enough data or result" in wordtracker and adwords. My site ranked for this keyword phrase only with less then 10 links and I started receiving more then 700 searches in a day on 4th rank...

I will say testing is only option which will show you correct result... You may find other competitive term which you thinking doesn't have actually enough result...

Have you made sure to check for exact keyword and local searches for US? That's the only way to get an estimate of what traffic you might receive in my opinion.

    Thanks Bizroot.

Will definitely test the KW phrase. Out of interest, what on Earth possessed you to go after a keyword with "not enough data"? Was it just a feeling?

Naa nothing like that... actually it was just another article on my site and it had 4 backlinks dunno if i made it or it was just beacuse of some social bookmarking but one day i saw this page is getting good amount of traffic then i started digging and found it's ranking in search engine, getting more then 750+ searches and displaying not enough result in adwords and wordtracker. I was just showing you situation which i faced...

How do you guys determine whether the niche your researching is a good niche? I see everyone saying this term gets "xxx" globally searches etc. - how do I determine when a niche is good? I have ms installed and use it but would like to know what else I can use.
