Good guy turned bad!! Scammed

Hi,

So I started a thread asking for a content writer to complete some articles for me with the POSSIBILITY of ongoing work, i got a PM from the user tensureFP. we immediately started talking on Skype.

I made an initial order of 15 articles which he delivered promptly and where of OK quality. I even decided to over pay him as I believe in rewarding people and keeping them happy.

Then he started to get really pushy about me making a second order and was under the impression that he was now under my permanent employment.

I had a feeling he wanted to scam me and probably needed money to buy his GF a valentines present!! so against my better judgment i sent him the payment to cover my next order. This was on the 16/02/2012. I did not send him the keyword until the 20/02/2012 as I was not ready at the time of ordering but merely sent him the money as he seemed desperate. This is the last time I help anyone out financially!!


He delivered 5 of the articles a week later on the 27/02/2012. Now i was still waiting for my articles and started to send him messages asking where they where.

On the 08/03/2012 i received the below response from him

Hi chris, I am really sorry but I am still swamped. The articles will be delayed by another day. To make it up to you, I will do the next batch of 15 at half price if you want.

I was not interested in working with him further and just wanted what I had pay'd for.

on the 10/03/2012 nearly one month after sending payment he delivered the second part. I did not check this strait away and that was stupid of me. but I had moved onto another project by now and was pissed off at how long he had taken to deliver.

So on 13/04/2012 I had one of my VA's start uploading all the articles we had for that site and he came back saying part 2 from Chad was a rar file with no articles inside. So i checked his original email he sent to me and confirmed the articles were not inside.

I contacted him the same day and received no response. So I tried to open a paypal dispute to get his attention, but paypal wouldn't open one because it was over 45 days!! on the 19/04/2012 I emailed him again and this time got the below response.

Woah, calm down. I was out of town.

So the second zip file was corrupted or something? The problem is, I deleted the articles a long time ago thinking you had them and had simply moved on.

Now I see that you have apparently started a paypal dispute. Well, I will not be rewriting them with a dispute going on. If you end the dispute I will rewrite part 2, otherwise forget it.

Not my fault you took that freaking long to tell me there was a problem.

I tried to explain that the dispute was never opened and that I just wanted my articles. I never heard anything from him.

So emailed him today asking what was going on with this and got the below response which is TOTALLY unacceptable.

I did the work and delivered them ages ago. I was not aware that the file was corrupt. I am not responsible for you taking over a month to let me know there was a problem. I now have a permanent black mark on my paypal account, due in part to your own irresponsibility.

From the my paypal account:

"Non-receipt dispute - #REMOVED
Status

This dispute closed because it was opened more than 45 days after the transaction date or did not meet other filing criteria. We encourage you to work with your buyer to resolve any issues.
We may reopen this dispute in the future if you receive excessive buyer complaints."

Note the last line, it is a permanent black mark.

Clearly I will not lift a finger to rewrite those articles. Like I said in an earlier response, if you had not taken so long to let me know there was a problem I would have been able to resend them.

If you are considering leaving a bad review on BHW, don't I will return the favor and point out how you blamed me for something that was largely your own fault while taking ages to get orders to me that you promised, and tried to nail me on paypal for something that you should have taken care of well over a month earlier. I still have the skype and email messages where you were dicking me around about placing orders. Your account on BHW has a lot more to lose than mine. You will not win that one.

This is not possible!! I tried to file a dispute but PayPal informed me it was too late.

So you are refusing to provide the remaining 10 articles??

Please go ahead try to fuck me over on BHW!! Im a trusted member and have shared a great deal with the community im sure they will see through your bullshit.

Dicking you around. I asked for someone to write me articles not to be employed on a fixed term contract for content creation. If that was the case I would of engaged someone more professional.

Then I received the following response from him.

Stop wasting my time!

I have actual customers who do not dick me around to do work for.
Also, I still have the emails and messages where you said you would place large orders the next day then you disappeared like your usual irresponsible self.

Now you threaten to add more black marks to my paypal address even after I have delivered the work. Well, I am sure that paypal would like to learn that you provide false disputes. You just admitted it.

In fact, I am going to forward your last email to paypal where you threatened to dispute work that I have already completed to your satisfaction. I still have the emails and skype messages where you said you were happy with them.

You will not win this one. I am sure BHW will be interested to learn that you are threatening people who have successfully completed work for you with false paypal disputes. You are a real class act!

Any further contact from you will be considered harassment, and I will call the police in your country. I will forward them the email where you threatened to provide false disputes to paypal for work that was successfully completed.

Can someone advise me of what to do. Surely he doesnt have a leg to stand on with his "you said you would place more orders" defence.

I did say I had hundreds of articles that I needed writing but at no point did i say they would be awarded to a single writer. but that's why I pay'd him his full price and didn't want the bulk price as I wanted to test him out with a few orders.

I wish I never sent my last message but I was just so pissed off that he was threatening my reputation on BHW.

I can forward the email containing the bullshit attachment if the admins require!! I can also provide all email and skype correspondence.

It's unfortunate that you got played. It's really difficult to trust people here, especially those who comes out of nowhere and just PMs you after you post at the Hire a Freelancer. I've worked hard to build a solid reputation as a writer because I didn't want to be like those creepy guys.

This person has been an absolute nightmare to deal with. Claiming he will place orders then disappearing for ages. Just like he disappeared then resurfaced ages later claiming a problem with articles I sent him ages ago. I also still have all the email and skype messages. The ones he conveniently left out.

Threatening to submit false paypal disputes is disgusting, and I will not tolerate being threatened.

I will be contacting paypal by phone and forwarding your threat to provide false disputes for work that was completed to your satisfaction.

Mods, please contact me regarding me threatening false paypal disputes.

Honestly, you still sound like a tool to me. You were prepaid for the order and then took you a week from when he gave you his keywords to deliver the first 5 - and then another two weeks for the remainder of the order? As someone that buys content, unless it was a very large order and was agreed upon in advance, 3 weeks is WAY too long for order fulfillment!

As far as the 'blackmark' on your paypal, you earned it. If you provide content, how hard is it to archive your previous orders for the off-chance that something like this happens? I have papers I have written for college classes 5 months ago! Should he have checked his file earlier, yea... probably - but at the same time, you should have provided the file to him much earlier too.

At the end of the day, a mod will decide the outcome of course... but honestly... I won't be buying any content from you myself...

PS. Concerning the whole 'dicking me around for more orders' - huh? Until money changes hands, there is no contract... he can change his mind - you can change your mind. He can jump up and down and swear to you that tomorrow he is going to order 500 articles but if he doesn't - that's his decision. There is no obligation for the order until money changes hands - at that point, you've both made an angreement.

You keep talking about these orders.

Check the thread I created. I did not and have never mentioned in email, skype or PM that i would award all of the work to you or any other single content writer.

the black mark on your paypal is just, i payed you for articles that you did not deliver. if I had noticed sooner paypal would have refunded my money.

its only $90 which means nothing too me its the principle. I have had guys threatening me with a shitlist thread over $10 for a logo. I'm not having it.

At the end of the day I pay'd you the money to create the articles and you didnt deliver. You only provided 5 of the 15 so just refund me 66% of the $90 and we can call it a day.

Please note this was sent today and was stupid of me. But was sent in retaliashion for been told i was not getting shit and not to "even think about bad mouthing him on BHW" I had no intention of doing this. It has also been over 45 days so no dispute could even be filed.

its like me saying I'M gonna kill someone but there already dead!! I'm sure that wouldn't stand up in a court of law.

I am always hiring content writers.

BUT i have learnt from my mistakes and will only be using BST's and trusted members with hundreds of posts.

This is not a sure fire way not to be scammed but it will at least give me some protection.

You keep trying to claim that there is no paypal dispute, well there is and it is in my paypal account. It is just closed because of how old it is.

I have a blackmark on my paypal from a scammer on ebay but it deos not affect me as i do not intend to scam anybody!!

I don't understand one thing. You are a professional writer and you said you had his emails and chat logs and yet you did not keep a copy of the article you sent to him? As you are professional, you should know better. Not keeping a copy of the article just does not make sense to me. This whole thing could have been avoided just by doing that. This is unpleasent for everybody regardless whoever is at fault here.
