Good Evening BHW from England, UK!

What would be the reason for buying an old account that has very few posts? Do they build up the post count quickly, so it appears they are a long standing member?

Accounts have to be a certain age before they can do certain things like submit sales threads as far as I know, but as you say it can also make them seem more trustworthy once they've built up their posts.

I'm not sure how proxygo's post was rude.. he was simply pointing out the obvious, the fact is that aged accounts with no posts that suddenly come back to life have usually been bought.

As you can see, I am new as well!

how can you be new with a 5 yr old account - also notice it only became active
in the last day or 2... bhw has a high turn over of accounts bought / sold if there old
user think buying aged accounts once there post count is built up makes them trustworthy
for a sales thread.

Ahh I see, that makes sense now. I agree with you that proxgo wasn't being rude then. It is important to point these things out when they are so apparent and threatening to the integrity of the forum and its' genuine users.

A bit silly of them to come in here and introduce themselves as new then! I'd take their silence as an admission of defeat too.

Welcome mate. where abouts in England are you from?

If you're thinking of being white-hat, then I recommend you start building an authority blog on something you enjoy right now.

It could take around 6 months for you to start seeing decent traffic, so it's better if you get started quickly and make mistakes as you go along (instead of spending a few months reading forums without taking action)

There's tons of good linking building tips out there from sites such as pointblankseo.

You could also experiment with the dark side by trying to rank parasites (not sure if you know what that is yet).

Anyways, I wish you all the success man.

Thanks for your support and advice! I want to remain fairly white-hat in all honesty, although I can appreciate that by being on a forum, that discusses how to rank on search engines (and make money from it), is always going to be relatively black-hat anyway.

I was not aware of the term, "parasite", but I am aware of various techniques and methods to rank something you've created on a larger authority site, for profitable gain. This is not something I am interested in at this point, as I have already chosen my first path in IM and I am determined to stick with it.

Based on the positive response I have received earlier on in the thread (with regards to my MNS, monetized with Amazon) I am going to keep with this method initially and learn how to rank a very small website, to familiarize with the techniques and tools. I appreciate your advice nonetheless and will keep it in mind (should I want to see how the other side of the coin lives!)

Thanks again,

Nice to meet you too!

When you refer to "Visual Content", do you mean infographics and videos on site, or visual content elsewhere (such as videos on YouTube)? Or both? Either way, I fully intend to utilise the power of visual content, as I am aware of how powerful it can be in this day and age. Potential consumers are very susceptible to imagery and I will use it wherever I can.

However, I think my primary focus will be on articles (on-site) initially, in order to provide visitors with what they are looking for (in my case this will be reviews on products they are thinking about purchasing). Video reviews will certainly have a substantial place within this strategy as well though.

What specifically do you mean when you say "referral backlinks"? I understand this to mean direct links to my content, not fully intended to increase my search engine ranking, such as tweets and retweets. Is this correct?

Thanks again for your advice! I will ensure I do more research into the areas you have mentioned and any further help you could give would be much appreciated!

It's going to be a Welsh year I think, even the sheep are getting excited about it haha ;)

Hold on to that excitement, it won't last long. We have you in the group stages! Haha!

(It wouldn't for the life of me let me quote your post ahiddenman. It kept saying I had broken a forum rule, so I hope you see this!)

Haha group stages mean nothing, it all comes down to what happens in the real game.

Are you sure you don't want me to buy you a welsh jersey ready? I'll also sign it for you free of charge? ;)

Haha! Why would you want to ruin a perfectly good wash cloth by covering it in your signature!
