Its actually quite a good concept. Look it up, the distributed computing part is interesting.
For eg you wanted to use the network to do some cgi rendering you would pay in GNT. I bought when it was added to poloniex in february and dont plan on selling for a while. Maidsafe and Siacoin are also similar and worth a look long term.

Golem is ETH based, so ETH price should be positively affected if golem succeeds. It might not succeed though. I still cannot actually run it on my computer and test their features. Once they are actually usable we will see if it is not vaporware.
