Going with Longtail keywords with exact match domain still works?

Google now prioritizes authority sites in the top SERPs. While you might naturally rank for low-difficulty keywords, it's not necessarily due to having an EMD. Creating a website with an EMD for a long-tail keyword would likely be a waste of time. @tazarbm and @splishsplash are experts in this area, and I'd love to hear their thoughts on this.

SS is expert for sure, I am not, so don't put me in the same category with SS as you will insult him
long tails are still OK if you're just starting out... and EMDs might work too (although I'm not 100% sure about this). And yeah, backlinks are still useful.
But I don't think that long content is needed. I mean, google have rules for everything, so I'm sure that if you target a topic that is very broad / general you can only rank with long content, but for long tail keywords this is rarely the case, so I would not waste my time with long content when targeting long tails...

Yes, Strategy of using long tail keyword, long content will work. But create in-depth, well-researched content. Build backlinks organically which means high quality, niche - relevant sites.

This all combined should give you results, for sure! As you stated, if Long content(informatively handwritten) and powerful backlinks(Outreach, Forum crowd links) are used, then you can expect this strategy to work!

Exact match domains (EMDs) with longtail keywords can still work if combined with high-quality content and strong backlinks, but Google prioritizes relevance and authority over exact matches now. A well-optimized site with topical authority and user engagement will perform better in the long run.

The thing is, I have seen parasite sites ranking for longtail keywords with almost few lines of content. Like Reddit etc. I think we can surpass them in the rankings with better content, backlinks and emd.

Yes, it still works, but it’s not as seamless as it was a decade ago. Google is smarter now – think less about “checklist SEO” and more about “user intent and quality.” Each part of your strategy has its strengths, but magic happens when they come together naturally, not just with a formula.

In my opinion, search engines now gives priority to the authority and quality content over exact match domains, so I do not think EMDs are as effective as they used to be in the past, unless you are targeting low competition keywords. What actually makes a difference is high quality, relevant content and strong quality backlinks to enhance your website rankings.

Reddit and Google have been at shenanigans between them
Looks like G's trying to push ranking factors about and using things like Reddit for reference of actual chatter
