@toyo, maontrox, mray, adbotand srb888 well said. Let's say, I want to develop a website with the keywords "miami plumbing." 60% of the page for that keyword is Google Places! So it is very hard to compete with the other 40% on that page. Or I can just give up and buy the Google ads that are abundant for that keyword phrase.
In addition you have to compete with:
www.superpages.com/yellowpages
www.yelp.com › Miami
Now you are left with just 2 other "organic websites" to compete against on the 1st page. And you will NEVER attain the #1 position because Google has it locked up with their Google Places. Pure and simple, they have a monopoly and they want everyone to buy Google Ad Words and so on. In my opinion they have gone to far. Nobody can can create a website and draw in customers unless they either buy Google Ads or hire a professional SEO person. Google is happy to take your money and put your website in the #1 position. But buy links and you could be de-indexed and/or sandboxed. They are two faced and greedy. I hope Bing takes over.
