Goggle Getting Slapped!

@toyo, maontrox, mray, adbotand srb888 well said. Let's say, I want to develop a website with the keywords "miami plumbing." 60% of the page for that keyword is Google Places! So it is very hard to compete with the other 40% on that page. Or I can just give up and buy the Google ads that are abundant for that keyword phrase.

In addition you have to compete with:
www.superpages.com/yellowpages
www.yelp.com › Miami

Now you are left with just 2 other "organic websites" to compete against on the 1st page. And you will NEVER attain the #1 position because Google has it locked up with their Google Places. Pure and simple, they have a monopoly and they want everyone to buy Google Ad Words and so on. In my opinion they have gone to far. Nobody can can create a website and draw in customers unless they either buy Google Ads or hire a professional SEO person. Google is happy to take your money and put your website in the #1 position. But buy links and you could be de-indexed and/or sandboxed. They are two faced and greedy. I hope Bing takes over.

But this is no different than me trying to take up the top 10 organic positions using all my sites. I have no problems with this.

Seriously companies need to get on board and think out of the box or get left behind. In my opinion, all props to G for dominating what ever they can when ever they can. I would do it as well as anyone else here if we could. They are a pain in the ass, but they are definitely doing things right when it comes to dominating their markets.

I ran into this when I tried to SEO a website for a local driveway repair company. I threw everything I had at it but there was no way to get it in the top 5. It was totally dominated by google places (unfairly), superpages (fairly IMHO, they have TONS of pages with tons more backlinks), two nationwide BS directory sites who just want your info so they can sell you as a lead to a local company (again, tons of pages and backlinks), and servicemasters which is a nationwide chain but was not relavent to anyone searching for a local company in his area.

His business is located some 150 miles from ATL, GA and there was no driveway repair businesses within 50 miles of him who had a website. EVERYTHING that came up on google (even months after the campaign) was for atl, ga.

I was doing it for free for a friend who needed help, but we sat down and counted the money and hours put into it and he would have been paying over $300 a lead just to stay on the bottom of page one. That was the day I officially gave up on geolocal targeted businesses.

The worst part is when Panda hit his site dissapeared totally. He had 100% orig content, and even had a blog that he wrote himself on a weekly basis. The SEO we did was totally whitehat because I was afraid I would sandbox his site. That is one (of many) reasons why I think Panda was also a covert attempt by G to place their prefered sites higher, which was probably based on the cost of their main keywords in Adwords.

Here is my opinion on this.Seems liek the world does not understand that google is a bussines,that someone is payed to run it.
Here is example of what are they expecting from google.
Lets say you open you restourant,and when costumer comes in you jell "We suck go to next restourant,and we have rats in kitchen,disgusting"
Of course anyone in right mind would not do it.So why do world agencies expect Google to give to their competitors?

Does anyone remember that restaurant review website, been in operation for years and years, who discovered that all of the details from their website were being scraped for Google places?
They asked for it to be removed and Google told them they would have to remove them from ALL OF GOOGLE for that to occur.

That's the sort of thing they should be investigating here, when the comapny uses it's market share to appropriate other peoples work and profit from it it should be investigated.

The problem with this is there is only one person determining what quality is and that is the site owner. You can have a 100% unique site and it can still be crap. None of my sites have been affected except moving up by all the zoo updates.

What fucking monopoly? Tell me what constitutes a monopoly when it comes to Google. Doing things better than your competitor is not a monopoly. I remember when Yahoo was the bomb, then they got the Google bounce. I used to use Yahoo all the time but then Google started giving me better results and Google did nothing but a better job.

Pull you heads out and quit blaming Google for everything that goes wrong with your sites. Most of it is probably your fault.

No matter what they do against Google, they will always fail. In terms of quality, Google is still the winner.
