Several domain names that I want (all in the same niche, variations of the same domain-name idea) are currently being parked on by GoDaddy. Those fuckers. Is this their way of ensuring that people do business with them? There is currently no single person who owns the domains, if you go to them it says they're parked FREE courtesy of GoDaddy.

Is there any way I can get the domain without purchasing it from GoDaddy?

If not, fuck them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That means someone owns the domain normally but has not put up a website or they for some reason chose to park it.

Did you do a whois search on the names? I am pretty sure that you can buy a domain from godaddy and just have them park it while you:

Are building a site to upload
Are trying to find a buyer
Are waiting on your brick and mortar biz to open
Fill in any other reason that you want

Do a whois and see if the contact info of the owner is available.

If you want them that badly, contact them and make an offer.

Hell ... I'm sitting on a bunch of domains myself and not using them yet. I paid for them and I'll use them when I'm ready to. I've actually sold a couple of them recently, tho. That was kool. LOL

Thanks for the info. The contact info is available. She also owns 168 other domains, and from the looks of it (I found another one of her domains by searching her name) they are all this same parking tactic. Tons of websites listed that start with the same letter consecutively, registered around the same time.

She's parking on them so that she can charge people an exorbitant amount of money for the domains when they are desired, is this what's going on?

I would bet that is probably what she is doing... maybe she would be reasonable in her asking price though. I once bought two sites that were superbowl2005,com and superbowl2009,com.

I had no idea how to build a site then and only bought them because I was hanging around with my wife, goofing off on the internet and having a few drinks.

I ended up letting them sit and was contacted by a travel agent who bought them from me for 1400.00.

If she is a pro and not a lucky so and so like I was, she's probably going to be a little tough to negotiate with but you never know.

It could be any reason just email see if she is willing to sell them for the price your willing to pay.

Good Luck

Contact her and claim to be a domain reseller. If she thinks you are an end user she will charge you at a high rate. I domain for a living and people like her that buy and hold are waiting for an end user to come about so they can make insane ROI. If the name doesn't have any inherent traffic, PR, or age value you can probably get away with giving them a little return on their investment
