Godaddy Marketplace is a Fraud

    Hi everyone, I am here to let you know what is happening on Godaddy Marketplace. Please read everything before comment. So, on Dezember I purchased one Domain, an expiring domain, from Godaddy. It cost me almost 3000 euros, something like $3500. The Domain was not available right away, as expected. But one week later I suspected something was wrong and talked trough chat with Godaddy Support team. They said that was normal and eveything was fine, just taking more time because funds were verified with escrow. ok...a few more days again on chat they said the same thing. On Christmas day I sent an email do godaddy auctions support team asking why I had the message "please email the seller to receive the transfer codes" on my dashboard.

    They gived me this answer trough email:
    The domain was listed by another GoDaddy Auctions member, the domain does not transfer automatically. You will need to use the ?Email Seller? link in your GoDaddy Auctions account in the bidding drop down, under the "Won" area, to contact the seller and work out the transfer of the domain name. The link to email the seller will not be available until the 6th day after payment as we have a 5 day verification period of the funds. If the seller does not provide the domain name, you will need to file a dispute per the Domain Name Aftermarket Membership Agreement:

    5 minutes latter I received this email and a refund:
    We have been informed by the presumed Seller of the domain name ********that they no longer own the domain. As such we have had to cancel the auction and are refunding your purchase price. We have taken action against the presumed Seller?s account due to their violation of the Terms of Service, and the GoDaddy auctions agreements.

    We regret any inconvenience the actions of this member may have caused.

    New years Eve I purchased another domain, around $750. From day one I could see this message on my dashboard "the domain will be your on 14 of January". Honestly? I was mad. Why would that take so long???? I guess it was because of the 14 days period when the seller can renew the domain...so I wait. Meantime I found that the same Domain was listed on SEDO! I contacted SEDO and they cancelled that auction (very quick, great support team btw) I sent Godaddy an email, just in case:

    I found out yesterday that the same domain I purchased was for sale on SEDO and I contacted SEDO witch removed the auction. But this is making me nervous and I can't find enough articles on Godaddy support to clarify my doubts. So I kindly ask to Godaddy auction support team to help me here.
    In what cases do I have to contact the seller to finalize the transfer of the domain (this was the case on the domain I purchased last month).
    If the seller do not respond back I can start a dispute correct? What are my chances to win that dispute, how and when do I get the domain.
    If the seller is not correct (as it seems as been the case for all my purchases) and try to sell the same domain in other platforms on the web what sould I do? What can Godaddy do? Also, for example, I purchase the domain and someone else also do the same on other platform, what happen?
    Please understand that this questions are very important for me. I have been bidding on Godaddy marketplace for quite some time now, and lately I am trying to purchase some expensive domains. If I continue on this cycle of bidding/buying/waiting/being refund - that takes weeks - I can end up without domains and without savings!


    They reply

    In the case of Go Daddy and Sedo, I suspect the domain was listed by a previous owner and never updated their portfolio with aftermarket sites they were listed with.
    If The domain was listed by another Auction member, and will have a 5 day verification period for the funds. On the 6th day the domain will automatically be moved to your account. If for any reason the domain does not move please use the email seller link in your won section to contact the seller of the domain to provide them your account number and email address for the account change. If the seller does not provide the domain name, you will need to file a dispute per the Domain Name Aftermarket Membership Agreement: To file a dispute, you must submit an email to ****** Such email must be received within fifteen (15) days from the sale date.

    I waited till 14 of January and I talked on chat with Godaddy support team to know if everything was ok. They said it was fine. I sent an email to them.

    Hi, My question is: is the domain going to be available today or do I need to send an email to the owner? If the owner doesnt answer me I need to start a dispute? I am still very sonfuse about this. In the last email you said to me that a dispute should start on 15 days counting from the purchase day, but in the meantime on Godaddy marketplace it says that the domain will the mine in 15 days counting from that. From that logic, its not possible to start a dispute on time. Doesnt make sense. What am I missing?

    It is always good to check with us if you do not have the domain name after fifteen days, so we can place funds on hold, and investigate why the seller is not moving the domain or providing the transfer codes. If we do not hear from the buyer, funds are automatically released after twenty days.

    In this case, the seller is one of our business partners, so we will work with them to get the domain name moved to you.

    Generally, if the domain was listed by another GoDaddy Auctions member, the domain does not transfer automatically. You will need to purchase a transfer in your account for the name. Once you have a transfer you will need to use the ?Email Seller? link in your GoDaddy Auctions account to contact the seller and work out the transfer of the domain name. If the seller does not provide the domain name, you will need to file a dispute per the Domain Name Aftermarket Membership Agreement:
    To file a dispute, you must submit an email to ***************
    Such email must be received within fifteen (15) days from the sale date.
    However, since this sale involves one of our business partners, we handle everything for you.

    Waited one more day, sent another email, they said they were waiting for the transfer codes, all was ok. 5 minutes latter

    Dear Sir or Madam,

    It has come to our attention that the seller of ********* no longer owns the domain and therefor will not be able to complete the transaction as agreed. At this time we have taken action against the seller and have issued a refund for the purchase of this domain. Please let us know if you have any questions and we apologize for the inconvenience

    Now, I am not complaining about refunds, I always get refunds. But it takes weeks on buying-waiting- and get the money again. Weeks waiting for what I purchase, weeks where I send emails to check everything is OK and they confirm that is ok, an them is not ok, they just give me the money back without any chance of a dispute. They say I can start a dispute, but is not possible since they refund me without even asking me. I understand theres nothing they can do about this, but here is what I think:
    - They say to me everything is ok. Is not. This is not correct.
    - I wait many days, waste my time and money. I feel I am giving Godaddy a Loan, they got the money and give me the money back weeks later without late payment interest.
    - They refund me without any chance on a dispute, what is my right.
    - They should protect the buyer! If that is not possible, they should refund the money in 24 hours or less. Is their job to check if all if Ok with the purchased domain, specially if the buyer asks about it!!
    - Something is very wrong. Feel like something dark is going on here. How is that possible that eveything is ok during escrow period or that the Seller is an Godaddy partner in one moment, and 5 minutes later I am being refund??
