I bought a fresh domain off GoDaddy (first mistake) and the account linked to it was "locked" requesting identity verification and issued a refund already.

If i'm unable to provide proof / get proof denied .. How long until the domain is back on the market for purchase? Because since they refunded my purchase technically it isn't owned by anyone is there like a 30 day wait or something similar? As of now, 5 days after GoDaddy canceled the order, domain is still unavailable for purchase according to domain lookup :weep:

Any help or info is appreciated

They asking you for ID verification just for buying a domain? Weird. They don't do that. There must be something else.

Did you register this account yourself or? How many GoDaddy accounts you have from the same IP?

Probably way too many, but nothing crazy under 5 total on diff accounts/emails. Was hoping to have a painless way to use domains for catchall emails (with the $0.99 .COM promo code).

I definitely wasn't making any effort to stealth which is definitely something I should have done ...
but the main issue for me is getting access back to the mail server of the domain ASAP.

I'm trying to figure out how long GoDaddy is going to tie up this domain name and make it unavailable for public purchase again. will it be Weeks? 30 days? I'm really hoping its not for entire year which is the length i purchased it for originally.

They've already issued full refund and said "order" was cancelled, and locked acc verification prompt comes up now when I try to login GoDaddy. So in my eyes ... nobody has this domain paid for so why aint it available to buy again on some other domain provider

They have locked because it's in process to remove the domain name, it will take sometime, wait for few more days, than you can again use that domain.

Changes to get your domain re-registered are low... They could keep it and try sell as "premium" domain if it's nice name, they can do it anyway as they did for me, if it gets "released" there are a lot of bots scanning dropped domains ready to register them - and again trying to sell it to whoever pays the highest price. Just let it go and get a new, and use some reasonable priced registrar (Godaddy is one of the most expensive ones after the 1st year discount ends).

Use normal domain registrars, like njal.la

Never use godaddy or any other spy sites like that. Never use domain registrar that is not registered offshore. Half the "registrars" and "hosts" we got around are nothing more but spy tools for governments.
