Godaddy is a joke!

Yeah I only use Godaddy for domains. I point all my hosting onto VPS machines where I have full control. Pay pennies to host a site that way.

Now call Namecheap and let them move everything from Godaddy to it, for FREE.

I haven't used godaddy since late 2020, but I never had any issues with them and I had adult sites including adult web rings...they actually didnt give 2 craps about what I did.

I always thought there customer support was amazing, never had one issue with them.

Firstly, if you are manually renewing, you must see on the checkout page. Sometimes they secretly change the renewal duration of the plan without you knowing. For example, say I want to renew the domains or hosting, they will secretly change the duration to "2 years" or "3 years" renewal.

Secondly, have you been with them for 3+ years? I nearly became a victim of this. I was using their ultimate hosting plan and have been paying the same price for the first 3 years. Then when they sent me a renewal notification email, the price went up by nearly 50% and they did not state it at all. Luckily I remember the price I was paying for the past 3 years. I went to their online product catalogue page and only to see a fine print underneath which stated something like, "promotional price for first 3 years, then regular price".

Thirdly, READ THEIR RENEWAL EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS. Just because you set auto-renewal on and the email says "auto renews on xx/xx/2022" it is NOT true. There's a fine print somewhere that says they will auto charge on another date, sometimes 2 months prior to the auto-renewal date.

All I can say is Go Daddy is getting less transparent, and more unethical. They should be focusing on optimising their servers and passing the savings to consumers (like what NameCheap is doing). Instead, they just increase prices and come up with all these hidden costs, secret renewals, unscrupulous locked-in pricing, and crap.

But in all fairness, their customer support is pretty great.

You can tell how much Godaddy sucks by how convoluted their website has always been. Any simple transaction is like impossible to figure out how to do. I remember once needing to purchase an SSL cert from them for a client years ago and it was a maddening process. Especially when I knew like 10 other vendors that could do it cheaper and easier. Godaddy exists to make crappy SuperBowl ads.

Godaddy are basicly sh*t service, panel and prices. I would avoid them on any service they offer, that includes their Whois search.

For that much monthly you can get way better options.
Fast performance & better uptime.

I've recently had issues with their pricing. I'm not even sure how I'm going to go about switching all of my domains. Anyone know a good register to migrate to?

they were always been pricy. Same happened with me in domains.

You’re a BHW member, and yet use hosting sites like godaddy are you for real? Countless posts to stay away from them

Today i contacted for another issue, and the support just copied and pasted the article and nothing else. he's not saying anything just sending me an article. im not an expert the solution that he sent me is too complicated for me but again they say nothing except sending me the articles.

Personally, I believe Godaddy is more suited to domain name registration than hosting. So, you should consider switching to one of the better hosting providers.

godaddy is a joke last 10 years and still a joke. Hostgator too. Those are old days rulers forgot to update by the time.
