So you know how Google is. You make a change like this and it could end catastrophically. I've never encountered a situation like this so I don't really want to make the jump unless I hear someone else who's experienced this and what they've done.

So I have a client that ranks #1 in GMB for multiple keywords. They're a national brand.

A while back we changed the location pages to have a parent page of "/nearme/" so url is like
Code:
site.com/nearme/location+service

Honestly doing this boosted our traffic pretty well for "service + near me" related terms.

We did not change the URL in GMB. It uses the old URL which was domainname[dot]com/location and that redirects to the new one.

Should I leave the URL or change it to be accurate. As said this brand has multiple locations. For our Seattle location changing to the /nearme/ structure did nothing and may have caused it to drop slightly. And the Boise location they've boosted 2x in traffic and leads from that adjustment.

However I wonder if the 404 and 301 will cause any issues down the line.
